2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year odds

The betting for Offensive Player of the Year is extremely tight, with 10 players priced at +2000 or shorter, and a further eight at +6000 or below.

The opening odds were headlined by 2021 rushing leader Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts and Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers, who was used in a hybrid role combining rushing and receiving last year. Slow starts to the season mean Taylor is now priced at +5000 and Samuel is now +4000 to win Offensive Player of the Year in 2022.

The reigning Offensive Player of the Year, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp, opened at +1200, but now leads the betting as the +600 joint-favorite, alongside Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Here are the current odds for the award (October 18):

Cooper Kupp (Los Angeles Rams) +600

Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia Eagles) +600

Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings) +600

Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens) +650

Saquon Barkley (New York Giants) +1200

Nick Chubb (Cleveland Browns) +1200

Stefon Diggs (Buffalo Bills) +1200

Davante Adams (Las Vegas Raiders) +1400

Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills) +1600

Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs) +2000

Tyreek Hill (Miami Dolphins) +2500

Ja’Marr Chase (Cincinnati Bengals) +4000

Justin Herbert (LA Chargers) +4000

Deebo Samuel (San Francisco 49ers) +4000

Jonathan Taylor (Indianapolis Colts) +5000

Derrick Henry (Tennessee Titans) +5000

Josh Jacobs (Las Vegas Raiders) +6000

Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals) +10000

Christian McCaffrey (Carolina Panthers) +7500

Dalvin Cook (Minnesota Vikings) +10000

Kyler Murray (Arizona Cardinals) +10000

Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) +15000

Favorites to win NFL Offensive Player of the Year

There is a good mix of players among the favorites for Offensive Player of the Year, with two running backs and three wide receivers – including the dual-threat Samuel – making up the top five.

Jonathan Taylor (+5000) | Indianapolis Colts | RB

Taylor broke out in his second season in the NFL in 2021, leading the league in rushing yards (1,811), scrimmage yards (2,171), rushing attempts (332) and rushing touchdowns (18).

His final rushing yards tally was 500 ahead of anyone else, which has not happened since 1973, and he became the youngest player in NFL history to reach 2,000 scrimmage yards and 20 total touchdowns in a season.

The Colts running back finished second in the race for Offensive Player of the Year, receiving 10 votes out of a possible 50, and is joint-favorite to go one better in 2022.

Deebo Samuel (+4000) | San Francisco 49ers | WR

Samuel is another who broke out in 2021, with the 49ers receiver selected to the first Pro Bowl and First-Team All Pro of his career during a season in which he essentially created a new offensive position.

Lining up both out wide and in the backfield, Samuel racked up 1,405 yards and six touchdowns as a receiver, and 365 yards and eight touchdowns as a rusher, the latter being an NFL record for a wide receiver.

Whether Samuel will be used in the same way in 2022 is unclear, but his ability to make plays and produce points make him a prime candidate for OPOY.

Cooper Kupp (+600) | Los Angeles Rams | WR

Kupp established himself as an elite receiver in 2021 as he led the league in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947) and receiving touchdowns (16) before going on to win Super Bowl MVP as the Rams beat the Bengals in the Big Game.

He became the first player since Steve Smith Sr. in 2005 to win the receiving triple crown, and his tallies for both receptions and receiving yards fell just short of NFL records.

Kupp was named Offensive Player of the Year for his efforts, receiving 35 of a possible 50 votes, and will be looking to go back-to-back in 2022.

Derrick Henry (+5000) | Tennessee Titans | RB

Henry was on pace to break the NFL rushing record in 2021 before a broken metatarsal saw him sidelined from Week 9 until the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

At the time of his injury, Henry was leading the league in carries, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns, and could potentially have challenged Kupp for this award.

He previously won OPOY in 2020 as he broke 2,000 rushing yards and scored a career-high 17 touchdowns and will be hoping to return to that kind of form in 2022.

Justin Jefferson (+600) | Minnesota Vikings | WR

After setting the rookie record for receiving yards with 1,400 in 2020, Jefferson improved on that last season as he finished up with 1,616 yards and 10 touchdowns, underlining his status as one of the most exciting young receivers in the game.

Jefferson’s 1,616 receiving yards were good enough to put him second in the league behind Kupp, while he missed out on Randy Moss’s single-season franchise record by 16 yards.

He was also named to the Pro Bowl, and missed out on First-Team All Pro honors by a single vote.

NFL Offensive Player of the Year predictions and best bets

Offensive Player of the Year is harder to bet on than defensive awards, with no single position dominating the voting.

When betting on Defensive Player/Rookie of the Year, you can be pretty confident that a pass rusher is likely to top the voting, barring an incredible season from a defensive back.

With Offensive Player of the Year, you have to consider quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers.

In general, quarterbacks and running backs have dominated the award, but a wide receiver has won in two of the past three years, and the amount of talent in that position right now means they must be considered when betting.

Best bet: Jonathan Taylor (+5000)

Considering Taylor was on the top the market for OPOY opening odds, this isn’t the most inspired choice, but +5000 is still very good odds for a player who should continue to elevate his game in 2022.

Taylor was by far the best running back in the league last year and should benefit from an improved offense around him in Indianapolis, with Matt Ryan taking over from Carson Wentz under center.

The New Jersey native is still just 23 years old and should be in his prime for the next few years, barring injury.
