The Australian Open semifinals are here with a total of four blistering matchups scheduled across the men’s and women’s competitions. Sascha Zverev enters the men’s final four hot after upsetting Carlos Alcaraz in the quarters, while 10-time champion Novak Djokovic is set for a semifinal showdown with Jannik Sinner.

On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka has barely broken a sweat so far on her way to defending her 2023 title, but she must now face Coco Gauff in the semifinals. Gauff, of course, beat Sabalenka in last year’s U.S. Open final. The winner of that match will play a Grand Slam final first-timer in either Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska or China’s Qinwen Zheng.

Let’s take a look at some Australian Open best bets for the semifinal round to build a four-leg parlay with astounding odds.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Coco Gauff Prediction and Pick

What a matchup this is. Ever since the draw for the 2024 Australian Open women’s singles tournament was announced, these two players have been on a collision course that now has them going head-to-head in the semifinals.

Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff are the two most dominant women’s players at this year’s Australian Open, and this would likely have been the championship match if the draw had permitted it. Instead, we get a rematch of the 2023 U.S. Open final one round earlier, and the winner of this one is expected to be the clear favorite in the final.

At last year’s U.S. Open, Gauff won her first Grand Slam event title in front of a home crowd. The woman she beat in that final was none other than Sabalenka.

Gauff is now on a 12-match winning streak at Grand Slam events, and she has been playing elite-level tennis on her way to the semifinals. Meanwhile, Sabalenka hasn’t dropped a single set in Melbourne, nor has she even come close to doing so. She remains the strong favorite in the Australian Open tennis odds.

There is no doubt that the Belarusian star will want to avenge her loss to Gauff in the U.S. Open final, and defending her Australian Open title in the process would be an impressive way to do it. She had won the first set in that U.S. Open match last September before Gauff came back and overwhelmed her over the final two sets. Given that history, how will this match play out in Australia?

Both women have completely dominated the competition so far, and there can be no doubt that they are currently the tournament’s two most talented women’s players. However, Sabalenka will have learned from her experience last year and should be able to adjust. She is still completely fresh -- having kept all her matches relatively short so far. She has been one of my best bets at this Australian Open since I previewed the tournament, and I won’t be changing my mind about her now.

This will be a tough test for both players, who rightfully belong in the conversation when it comes to determining the best player in today’s women’s game. I’m taking Sabalenka to win this match in three sets.

The Pick: Aryna Sabalenka to win 2-1 (+250)

Novak Djokovic vs. Jannik Sinner Odds, Moneyline, and Spread – Australian Open Betting Men’s Odds 1/26

Match Winner: Djokovic -223, Sinner +175

(40.5) Over (-118), Under (-118)
(41.5) Over (+100), Under (-138)
Novak Djokovic vs. Jannik Sinner Prediction and Pick

Novak Djokovic once again pulled away from his opponent in the later stages of his quarterfinal match and beat American Taylor Fritz in four sets. The two battled for the first two sets, with Djokovic claiming the first in a tiebreaker before dropping the second 6-4. However, the third and fourth sets were more comfortable for the world’s No. 1 player from Serbia, and he only lost a total of five games across them on his way to a 3-1 victory.

Djokovic, now 9-0 in his career against Fritz, is set to face superbly talented Italian Jannik Sinner in the semifinals. Sinner easily beat Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinal, eliminating the very frustrated Russian in straight sets.

Sinner looked calm and composed throughout his quarterfinal win, although he did display a nagging stomach pain that had him reaching for his abdomen on multiple occasions. He has since said that he “will be OK,” but no player ever wants to go into a matchup with Novak Djokovic feeling less than 100 percent healthy.

These two have met six times so far in their careers, with four of those matches taking place in 2023. Sinner beat Djokovic in the round-robin portion of the ATP Finals, but Djokovic took him out in straight sets when the two met a second time in that event’s final match.

Djokovic also handled Sinner in last year’s Wimbledon semifinal, beating him in straight sets. However, the Italian won the most recent battle, toppling Djokovic 2-1 in the Davis Cup semifinals.

I have Djokovic winning this one in four sets, since Sinner has yet to beat him in a best-of-5 match. The Serbian is nearly untouchable right now, and while the Italian is a worthy challenger, Novak will still reach the final and go after his 11th Australian Open title.

The Pick: Novak Djokovic to win 3-1 (+300)

Dayana Yastremska vs. Qinwen Zheng Odds, Moneyline, and Spread – Australian Open Betting Women’s Odds 1/25

Match Winner: Yastremska +160, Zheng -200
1st Set Winner: Yastremska +130, Zheng -182
2nd Set Winner: Yastremska +130, Zheng -182

Total Games:
(19.5) Over (-225), Under (+160)
(20.5) Over (-167), Under (+120)
(21.5) Over (-134), Under (-105)
(22.5) Over (+100), Under (-138)

Qinwen Zheng’s rise through the women’s tennis ranks has been stunning, and the budding star from China is suddenly on the verge of making her first trip to the final of a Grand Slam event in Australia.

Zheng was voted the 2022 WTA Newcomer of the Year. In 2023, she won WTA tour titles and reached the top 15 in the women’s rankings for the first time.

She made a great run at the 2023 U.S. Open, too -- reaching the quarterfinals before falling to Aryna Sabalenka. On her way to the quarters, Zheng beat the defending champion, Ons Jabeur, in straight sets. Already in 2024, she appears stronger than ever, and has been very impressive on her way to the Australian Open semifinal round.

Zheng’s opponent, Dayana Yastremska, is the first qualifier to reach the Australian Open semifinals since 1978. She has been on a wild ride through the bracket, picking up wins over three ranked opponents. Yastremska beat seventh-ranked Marketa Vondrousova in the first round and has since beaten No. 27 Emma Navarro in Round 3 and No. 18 Victoria Azarenka in Round 4.

Yastremska has proven her strength time and time again, while Zheng has yet to face a ranked opponent in this year’s tournament.

Zheng has the stronger Australian Open tennis betting odds and is currently a -225 favorite to reach the final. Both women are playing for the dream of competing in their first Grand Slam event final against either defending champion Aryna Sabalenka or U.S. Open champion Coco Gauff.

This is undoubtedly the underdog side of the women’s semifinal bracket, and I have Zheng winning this match in three sets. Yastremska looks poised to be a talent on the women’s tour for years to come, but I love Zheng’s game right now, and she has been on the verge of a major breakthrough for a while.

The Pick: Qinwen Zheng to win (-223)

Alexander Zverev vs. Daniil Medvedev Odds, Moneyline, and Spread – Australian Open Betting Men’s Odds 1/26

Match Winner: Zverev +125, Medvedev -154
1st Set Winner: Zverev +105, Medvedev -143
2nd Set Winner: Zverev +110, Medvedev -154

Total Games:
(39.5) Over (-143), Under (+105)
(40.5) Over (-125), Under (-112)
(41.5) Over (-118), Under (-118)
(42.5) Over (+100), Under (-138)

Sascha Zverev played a sensational match against Carlos Alcaraz on Wednesday to reach his second Grand Slam event semifinal since coming back from a nasty ankle injury. He blasted through the first two sets before allowing Alcaraz back into the match with a tightly contested third-set tiebreaker.

Fortunately, Zverev was able to recompose himself in the fourth set and move out in front. He served the final game to win that set 6-4 and claim the match, 3-1.

While Alcaraz is clearly one of the best players in the men’s game, he has appeared somewhat vulnerable in the later rounds of recent tournaments. Zverev capitalized, as I predicted he would, and won the match despite being the underdog.

He will now face Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals. Medvedev has had the upper hand against Zverev on several occasions – a fact the German star jokingly acknowledged during an interview following the Alcaraz match.

Zverev and Medvedev met six times in 2023, and Medvedev won five times. Despite that lopsided history, none of those matches came in Grand Slam events, and none were in a best-of-5 format.

Zverev has been fighting his way back to the top of his game, and one might argue that he is now playing even better than he was prior to the injury that ended his French Open semifinal match against Rafael Nadal in 2022.

Based on Zverev’s performance against Carlos Alcaraz, I’m leaning toward him winning here, despite his head-to-head record against Medvedev. The Russian has looked shaky on multiple occasions in this tournament, including his slow start in the second round against Emil Ruusuvuori and his tightly contested battle against Hubert Hurkacz. Both of those matches went to a fifth set.

I’ll take Sascha Zverev here in a five-set thriller. The eye-popping Australian tennis Open betting odds of +500 also significantly boost this parlay.

The Pick: Alexander Zverev to win 3-2 (+475)
