Week 5 of the NHL season is under way. Heading into Week 4, the league still had two undefeated teams. One week later, that’s no longer the case because every team has now suffered at least one loss this season. While no one remains undefeated, the league’s three-game Wednesday night slate includes hockey’s best team -- the Vegas Golden Knights. There might only be three total games, but fans can expect all of them to be action-packed.

Best NHL Parlays - Wednesday, Nov. 8, 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+402) Ottawa Senators vs. Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction and Pick

Wednesday night features Canada’s first 2023-24 Battle of Ontario, as the visiting Ottawa Senators go up against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Both teams enter this matchup on a slight decline. The Senators are on a two-game losing streak, while the Maple Leafs have lost four of their last five. Ottawa goaltender Joonas Korpisalo and Toronto’s Joseph Woll each have save percentages above the .900 mark, and they can expect to be tested on Wednesday in a game featuring two top-10 offenses. The Senators rank fifth in goals scored this season, while the Maple Leafs rank 10th. The 6.5 over/under is the highest total on Wednesday’s slate, but expect to see a lot of scoring. Sens winger Brady Tkachuk already has eight goals, and Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews leads the league with 13. This star-studded matchup is a great one to kick off Wednesday’s action.

Leg-1 Parlay Pick: Over 6.5 (-165)
Florida Panthers vs. Washington Capitals Prediction and Pick

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin’s quest to draw within striking range of Wayne Gretzky’s NHL career goals isn’t off to a great start this season. Through 10 games, the superstar winger has scored only two goals and is still 70 away from tying Gretzky, Ovechkin, 38, will need to increase his intensity if he wants to make history by age 40. Both Florida and Washington teams have been up-and-down teams this season. Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, the key to the team’s run to last season’s Stanley Cup Final, has been inconsistent. Fortunately for him, the Panthers will be up against a Capitals offense that ranks 31st in the NHL in scoring this season with an average of 1.90 goals per game. Bobrovsky has been vulnerable this season whenever an opponent can reach four goals, as he has gone 1-2 in such games. The Capitals, however, have only scored four goals once this season in 6-4 win over New Jersey on Oct. 25. Look for the Panthers to win this game easily on Wednesday night.

Leg-2 Parlay Pick: Florida Panthers ML (-130)

Los Angeles Kings vs. Vegas Golden Knights Prediction and Pick

The Los Angeles are off to an impressive start this season. They are 7-2-2 entering Wednesday night’s matchup at Las Vegas. This game gives the Kings a second chance to test the reigning Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights, who have been the league’s best team since the start of this season. The Kings faced the Knights on Oct. 28 in a game that went all the way to an overtime shootout before Vegas prevailed 4-3. Both teams enter this matchup ranked among the NHL leaders in terms of goals scored and fewest goals allowed. The Kings are the NHL’s second-highest-scoring team and are tied for the sixth-best defensive performance, while the Golden Knights rank sixth in scoring and third in fewest goals allowed. This game will likely either be decided in the third period or come down to another shootout. Kings journeyman goaltender Cam Talbot comes into the game with an impressive .923 save percentage. He will be matched up against Vegas netminder Adin Hill, who has been nearly unbeatable this season. The Chicago Blackhawks needed overtime to give Hill his only loss so far. Look for the Golden Knights to prevail Wednesday in the rematch of the Oct. 28 game at Los Angeles. Despite the Kings’ impressive start, the Golden Knights are still the actual kings of hockey.

Leg-3 Parlay Pick: Vegas Golden Knights ML (-130)
BONUS NHL PICK
The last game between the Kings and Golden Knights went all the way to a shootout, but anyone who watched it knows that Vegas controlled the entire game until the Kings scored a late goal in the final minutes of the third period. That tying goal by Los Angeles defenseman Drew Doughty was a perfect, seeing-eye shot from just inside the blueline after the Kings had pulled their goaltender from an extra attacker. When it comes to third periods, the Golden Knights have been one of the NHL’s best teams. Despite what happened on Sunday in their loss to Anaheim, these Golden Knights generally don’t give up third-period goals -- and certainly not multiple third-period goals. Look for the stingy Vegas defense to rebound on Wednesday night and score a victory in regulation that takes advantage of the plus money.
