Thursday’s NHL schedule of 11 games includes several marquee matchups. The slate features a Metropolitan Division battle between the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils, as those teams resume the Hudson River Rivalry. Meanwhile, in Tampa Bay, Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin will look to extend the hot hand that has produced goals in seven of his last eight outings. With so many great games to choose from, let’s take a closer look at four of the best wagering opportunities for Thursday night.

Best NHL Parlay Picks Tonight - Thursday, Feb. 22, 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+508)

Colorado Avalanche vs. Detroit Red Wings Prediction and Pick

Apart from the fate of its basketball team, the city of Detroit has been having a real sports renaissance over the past few months. The Lions reached the NFC Championship Game, and the resurgent Red Wings are in control of an Eastern Conference playoff berth. Indeed, the Wings, who haven’t made the playoffs since 2016, are 29-20-6 heading into Thursday night’s home game against Colorado.

Detroit goaltender Alex Lyon has been stellar, and the team’s offense ranks sixth in the NHL with 3.49 goals per game. The Red Wings, however, are in for a true test on Thursday night against an Avalanche team that has been one of the league’s best for quite some time.  Led by future Hall of Famer Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado is the most lethal team in hockey when it comes to scoring (tied for first in the NHL with 3.68 goals per game).

Thursday night’s game is the first meeting of these two teams, and it will be a good measuring stick for Detroit. By the end of this game, the Wings will have a better sense of what they need to improve on to qualify for the postseason. Give me Colorado to start off this four-leg parlay.

Leg-1 Parlay Pick: Colorado Avalanche ML (-150)
Dallas Stars vs. Ottawa Senators Prediction and Pick

The Dallas Stars’ focus heading into the 2023-24 NHL season was on winning games in regulation rather than letting them bleed into overtime. Last season, a plethora of OT losses prevented the Stars from winning the NHL’s Central Division title.

Dallas is once again leading the division this year, and the second half of the season will be crucial for the Stars. They need to finish strong and lock up first place in their division, rather than give it away to the Avalanche again. Overtime games and shootouts have continued to plague the Stars this season, and two of their last three games ended in such fashion.

Dallas last faced Ottawa on Dec. 15 at home. The Stars fell behind 4-2 early in the second period of that game and had to fight back to win 5-4 in overtime. Playing on the road, Dallas will need a much stronger start against the Senators. Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger, who did not start the Dec. 15 game, is scheduled to start on Thursday night, and over the past two seasons, he has done a great job for his team. Give me the Stars on the road for my Leg 2 pick.

Leg-2 Parlay Pick: Dallas Stars ML (-160)

Washington Capitals vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction and Pick

This season was looking like the start of a potential rebuilding era for the Washington Capitals, as it seemed that 38-year-old captain Alex Ovechkin’s performance level was starting to decline. However, since late January, the future Hall of Famer has turned back the clock and is now looking like his dominant self.

Ovechkin has scored at least one goal in seven of his last eight games. On Thursday, the Caps visit Tampa Bay, and while the Lightning are the far superior team going into this matchup, there’s no telling what might happen if Ovechkin gets going early. With a hot Ovechkin, Washington could play a spoiler role on the road in Tampa.

Give me the alternate over total in this matchup, because I expect Ovechkin to remain dominant -- especially against a Lightning defense that isn’t particularly great at limiting scoring chances.

Leg-3 Parlay Pick: Over 5.5 (-180)
Montreal Canadiens vs. Pittsburgh Penguins Prediction and Pick

For the last leg of my Thursday night parlay, let me take you out to Pittsburgh for a matchup between the Montreal Canadiens and hometown Penguins. This will be the third and final 2023-24 regular-season meeting of these teams. The first matchup on Dec. 13 at Montreal went to a shootout, and the second -- played in Pittsburgh on Jan. 27 -- went to overtime. The Penguins won both of those games.

I think Round 3 of this rivalry will be a very different story. Pittsburgh is far and away the superior team here, and the Pens will look to prove it Thursday night. I know teams try not to dwell on past results against each other and instead only look forward, but I’m sure that on Thursday the Pens want to show the Habs that what happened in the first two games was an aberration and Montreal is hardly an opponent capable of competing with them.

Leg 4 Parlay Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins ML (-225)
