Election Day was an off day for NBA players -- a development implemented by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver a couple of years ago when voter participation was a topic that NBA players wanted to focus on as part of their desire to implement social-justice initiatives.

So, this morning we were treated to college basketball and soccer highlights on ESPN, leaving us jonesing for something having to do with the NBA to distract us from a number of things -- not the least of which is Elon Musk’s new humorous AI initiative.

By the way, the over/under on Musk somehow becoming bunkmates with Sam Bankman-Fried is July 4, 2024. But that is a story for another day.

Tonight, every team except Atlanta and Orlando is taking part in a 14-game slate, and that is what we like to call a very promising wagering opportunity. There are so many games, lines, and player-props to choose from, but what we will do here is pick four players who have been trending upward. Let’s see if we can go 4-for-4 with them.

NBA Player Prop Bets Today: Wednesday, November 8th. 2023

Best Washington Wizards vs. Charlotte Hornets Player-Prop Bets

Mark Williams, 20+ points

Charlotte’s 21-year-old center from Duke plays on what is probably the most off-the-radar team in the NBA, although that is going to change if the Bulls’ Lonzo Ball keeps producing triple-doubles. For now, Mark Williams is coming off an 8-for-8 shooting effort in a six-point loss to Dallas, and he leads the NBA with a field-goal percentage of 81 percent. He scored 27 points last Saturday against Indiana, and he also had an 8-for-8 game against Brooklyn last month. We think he keeps trending positively against the 1-5 Wizards. This is an achievable number if the guy keeps making nearly every shot he takes.

The Pick: Mark Williams to score at least 20 points (+390)

Best Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers Player-Prop Bets

Jayson Tatum, 40+ points

ESPN is not giving us this one as part of tonight’s doubleheader because Victor Wembanyama is playing his first game at Madison Square Garden, and we are going to be inundated with Wemby coverage between now and mid-December. So, get used to it. However, the best Eastern Conference game is Boston (5-1) at Philadelphia (5-1) with the Sixers’ Joel Embiid coming off a 48-point performance in just three quarters against Washington, which caused significant movement in the Embiid MVP market. The thinking here is that Jayson Tatum is going to want to one-up Embiid as a result, and Tatum has scored 32, 24, 33, 30, 32, and 32 in his six games. He last scored 40 or more points when he dropped 51 on the Sixers in Game 7 of the conference semifinals last spring, and he scored at least 40 points 11 times last season.

The Pick: Jayson Tatum to score 40 or more points: (+525)

Best Los Angeles Lakers vs. Houston Rockets Player Prop Bets

Alperen Sengun, 10+ assists

The Rockets have won three straight games, and LeBron James is in the house tonight along with Anthony Davis, who might actually be the second-best player on the court. Alperen Sengun, Houston’s 21-year-old starting center, dropped 12 dimes on the Sacramento Kings in just 26 minutes on Monday night, and he is looking more and more like a point center in the Domantas Sabonis mode. He had six assists in the previous game against Sacramento, and the thought is that he will go all out against Davis, who has been struggling. The line on 8+ assists is +280, and we would like to bump up to +800 for two additional converted passes.

The Pick: Alperin Sengun to have at least 10 assists (+800)

Best Portland Trail Blazers vs. Sacramento Kings Player-Prop Bets

Malcolm Brogdon, 12+ assists

De’Aaron Fox of the Kings is going to miss a fourth consecutive game due to a sprained ankle, which opens the door for Malcolm Brogdon to go off in the assists category in the same manner that he did in the previous two games. He had 10 and then 11 against Memphis, which was also missing its top point guard (Ja Morant). Brogdon logged 44 and then 39 minutes in those games against the Grizzlies, so Portland is clearly leaning on the former Rookie of the Year. A dozen assists is not beyond his capability.

The Pick: Malcolm Brogdon to record 12 or more assists (+550)
