The NBA playoffs are almost upon us, which will reduce the number of nights we can see something like Malachi Flynn going for 50.

The Pistons backup point guard put on a show last night against the Hawks in Atlanta, after which the Hawks flew to Dallas for tonight’s game against the Mavericks. And that, of course, means that Luka Doncic is going to do something special, because he does every night.

But the trick to playing late-season NBA games is to find the next Flynn, or something remotely resembling him. That is our quest as we delve into a Thursday night five-game slate that includes the TNT broadcasts of Kings-Knicks and Nuggets-Clippers. Let’s see if we find a guy who folks are sleeping on…

NBA Player Props Today for Thursday, April 4, 2024

Jalen Brunson and De’Aaron Fox 35+ points each

Brunson is coming off a 20-point, stinker (by his standards), as is Fox. But this is a nationally televised TNT game, and both players have been known to turn their games up a notch when there is a bigger-than usual audience watching. Fox went for 44 on the road against the Lakers on March 6 and 40 on the road against Phoenix on February 13. He is the NBA’s reigning Clutch Player of the Year and has gone for at least 35 points nine times this season.

The Pick: Jalen Brunson and De’Aaron Fox to score at least 35 points each (+1200)

Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Dejounte Murray to all score 30+ points

Irving has gone for 30 or more just 11 times this season, but we all know he has a 40-point game in him every time he steps onto the court. On any given night, it’s a question of “where is his head at?” Murray has gone for 30 or more a dozen times, and Doncic has done it 48 times, which is why is the NBA’s leading scorer.

The Pick: Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Dejounte Murray to all score 30 or more points (+1200)

Jalen Green and Steph Curry 30+ points

Jalen Green has gone for 30 or more 13 times this season, including two games in the 40s last month during that 11-game winning streak. He is Houston’s best player in what should be an emotional game considering the presence of Green and Dillon Brooks, the Rockets’ troublemaker. Curry has gone for 30 or more on 27 occasions and is coming off a 13-point dud against Dallas last time out.

The Pick: Jalen Green and Steph Curry to both score at least 30 points (+550)

Paul George and Michael Porter 25 or more points (+900)

Jokic is coming off a 42-point game in which he was matched against super rookie Victor Wembanyama, which overshadowed the 15 points and 16 rebounds Denver got from Michael Porter Jr. Tonight, we like the line of Paul George and Porter to each score at least 25 points, especially with the injuries to Denver’s other starters that could limit their minutes.

The Pick: Paul George and Michael Porter to both score at least 25 points (+900)
