The NHL regular season is starting to really pick up here in Week 7. Several teams are getting hot, while others are starting to unwind. Wednesday’s schedule includes a total of 14 games before the league takes a day off for Thanksgiving. Here is a closer look at some key games on a full night of hockey as we head into the holiday weekend.

Best NHL Parlays - Wednesday, Nov. 22, 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+676)

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Columbus Blue Jackets Prediction and Pick

The Chicago Blackhawks travel to Columbus, where they will take on the Blue Jackets Wednesday night. Both teams enter this matchup well below .500, as they have really struggled get anything going this season. The Blackhawks are certainly better than they were last year, and their best days are ahead of them since they now have young superstar Connor Bedard on the roster. Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets are mired in a rebuild. They have lost nine in a row and won just one of their past 14 games. I’m not sure why the oddsmakers have Chicago coming into this matchup as underdogs, because the Blackhawks allow fewer goals per game than the Jackets and average essentially the same amount of goals scored per game. The Blackhawks are expected to have goaltender Petr Mrazek in net on Wednesday night, and he has posted a solid .915 save percentage this season. Columbus is expected to start goalie Elvis Merzlikins, who has been awful this season in yielding at least four goals in seven of his 13 starts. Earlier in the season, Bedard had a breakout stretch of multi-goal performances, but he has transitioned into more of a setup man over the past few games -- attacking less and feeding his teammates more. Although he has been successful in setting up others, these increased assists haven’t resulted in wins. I expect Bedard to be more aggressive in the offensive zone on Thanksgiving Eve and lead his team to a victory. However, since we’re playing it safe on this parlay, I like Chicago on the alternate line.

Leg-1 Parlay Pick: Chicago Blackhawks +2.5(-350)
Boston Bruins vs. Florida Panthers Prediction and Pick

It has been hard for anyone to beat Boston this season. Through 17 games in 2023-24, the Bruins have only one regulation loss. They are coming off a 5-4 loss to Tampa Bay on Monday – a game that ended in overtime. The Lightning battled hard in that game and got a tying goal from Steven Stamkos with 4.8 seconds left in the third period to force OT. It was a fluke loss for the Bruins, who nearly held off one of the top-scoring teams in hockey. Boston has yet to lose back-to-back games this season, and I don’t see that changing when they face the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night. The Panthers haven’t really been tested this season, and their 12-5-1 record doesn’t suggest any kind of dominance to me because they have faced a lot of inferior team so far. Although the Bruins needed overtime to beat the Panthers on Oct. 30 in Boston, this second meeting should be a rout from start to finish. Give me Boston in a big bounce-back spot on Wednesday night.

Leg-2 Parlay Pick: Boston Bruins ML (-120)

Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Islanders Prediction and Pick

When it comes to teams that play good defense, one doesn’t really think about the Philadelphia Flyers. However, if you have been watching their games of late, you would notice that the Flyers have been causing havoc defensively and making it very hard for opponents to get shots through to the goal. If an opposing skater manages to make it past the Flyers’ pressuring defense, goaltender Carter Hart is an even bigger obstacle. Hart has done a great job defending the net this season, and his 2.40 goals-against average and .919 save percentage both rank just outside the league’s top 10. Philadelphia’s opponent on Wednesday, the New York Islanders, can’t point to statistics like that on either offense or defense. Isles star goalie Ilya Sorokin has had a rough start to his 2023-24 NHL season, but look for Wednesday night to be a turning point for him. The Flyers have won five straight, but they are a middle-of-the-pack NHL team when it comes to average goals per game. That’s good news for Sorokin, because the Islanders score the league’s fourth-fewest goals per game this season. While both teams have been in their share of high-scoring games, this particular matchup probably won’t be a track meet. The Flyers’ defense has been stingy, and Hart has backed up his d-men well. Meanwhile, the Islanders’ offense is virtually non-existent, and Sorokin is too talented to continue allowing 3.32 goals per game. The Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights have the 11th-most shots on goal per game in the NHL this season, but the Flyers held them to just eight shots in the first period and 10 in the third period when Philly beat Vegas 4-3 on Saturday. Give me the alternate under here.

Leg-3 Parlay Pick: Under 6.5 (-165)
Vegas Golden Knights vs. Dallas Stars Prediction and Pick

November has been a rough month for the Vegas Golden Knights, who have lost three of their last four games and five of nine this month. Their opponent on Wednesday, the Dallas Stars, has been slightly better -- only losing three games in November. These teams’ records are essentially even, as the Golden Knights come into this game at 13-4-2, while the Stars come in at 12-4-1. We should therefore have a marquee matchup on our hands in a nationally televised Wednesday night game on TNT. The Golden Knights won an earlier meeting with the Stars this season -- a game that went all the way to a shootout. Another close game is expected, so execution will be critical. Although Vegas has struggled with its execution this month, look for the Knights to bounce back on Wednesday in Dallas. Goaltender Adin Hill is expected to start for Vegas, and he has been amazing this season -- ranking fifth in the league for save percentage and fourth in goals-against average. The Golden Knights, who average just over 31 shots on goal per game, will be in full attack mode on Wednesday night.

Leg-4 Parlay Pick: Vegas Golden Knights ML (+105)
