Entering Week 3 of the 2023-24 NHL season, the league still has three undefeated teams. The Vegas Golden Knights (6-0-0), Colorado Avalanche (5-0-0), and Boston Bruins (5-0-0) are all off to impressive starts. Boston’s undefeated start is a bit of a shocker, given their offseason losses of David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron, who both retired. The Bruins, however, remain hot as they look to get beyond last spring’s anticlimactic first-round playoff exit that followed a historic, 65-win regular season. Will all three unbeaten teams still be perfect by this time next week? We will just have to wait and see. For now, let’s jump into the “Frozen Frenzy” Tuesday night schedule in which all 32 NHL teams are active.

NHL Best Bets Today: Odds, Picks and Predictions

New Jersey Devils vs. Montreal Canadiens Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NHL Betting Lines 10/24

Moneyline: Devils (-225), Canadiens (+200)
Spread: Devils -1.5 (+100), Canadiens +1.5 (-130)
Total: Over/Under 6.5 goals

New Jersey Devils vs. Montreal Canadiens Prediction and Pick

While New Jersey’s 2-1-1 record is certainly a positive, it hasn’t exactly been a pretty start to the season for the Devils, who suffered an inexcusable loss to the Arizona Coyotes last week. New Jersey has yet to win a game in dominating fashion, since both of their victories have come by one-goal margins. The Montreal Canadiens, meanwhile, come into Tuesday’s matchup at 3-1-1 and riding a two-game winning streak. The Habs have been able to take care of some of the league’s weaker teams, but they will have their hands full with the Devils on Tuesday night. Montreal allows the NHL’s fifth-most shots on goal this season, and that’s never good news for a team about to face the Devils’ high-scoring duo of Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt. Any Devils fans eager to see their team have a breakout game should get what they are hoping for on Tuesday.

The Pick: New Jersey Devils ML (-200)

Dallas Stars vs. Pittsburgh Penguins Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NHL Betting Lines 10/24

Moneyline: Stars (-125), Penguins (+115)
Spread: Stars -1.5 (+185), Penguins +1.5 (-240)
Total: Over/Under 6.5 goals

Dallas Stars vs. Pittsburgh Penguins Prediction and Pick

This line is a real head-scratcher for me. It feels much like the line oddsmakers gave out last week for a game between the Vegas Golden Knights and Winnipeg Jets. Vegas was slightly favored in that game despite being the clearly superior team. The Knights trailed early in that game but ended up rallying to win 5-3. While this might be a potential trap game for the Stars, Dallas is one of the top teams in the Western Conference, and the Pittsburgh Penguins just flat-out stink. Jake Oettinger will be in goal for the Stars on Thursday night, backing up a Dallas defense that allows the NHL’s 11th-fewest shots on goal this season.

The Pick: Dallas Stars ML (-115)

Seattle Kraken vs. Detroit Red Wings Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NHL Betting Lines 10/24

Moneyline: Kraken (+115), Red Wings (-125)
Spread: Kraken -1.5 (-225), Red Wings +1.5 (+175)
Total: Over/Under 6.5 goals

Seattle Kraken vs. Detroit Red Wings Prediction and Pick

After finishing second-to-last in the NHL’s Atlantic Division last season, the Detroit Red Wings have opened 2023-24 as a surprise team that I could see making the playoffs. Off to a great start at 5-1-0, the Wings host the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday. Seattle made the playoffs last year, but the Kraken (1-4-1) will be lucky to finish anywhere but the Pacific Division basement this year. Ville Husso will be in goal for the Red Wings tonight, and he has been awesome this season with a .901 save percentage and 3.04 goals-against average. Center Dylan Larkin has done a great job leading the Detroit offense, but winger Alex DeBrincat has been the standout so far for the Red Wings with eight goals in six games.

The Pick: Detroit Red Wings ML (-125)

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Vegas Golden Knights Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NHL Betting Lines 10/24

Moneyline: Flyers (+180), Golden Knights (-200)
Spread: Flyers +1.5 (-145), Golden Knights -1.5 (+110)
Total: Over/Under 6.5 goals

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Vegas Golden Knights Prediction and Pick

We can keep this prediction short and sweet, because the Vegas Golden Knights are without a doubt the best team in hockey, and I think they have a legitimate shot at repeating as Stanley Cup champions this season. Loaded from top to bottom with elite skaters, as well as goaltenders Adin Hill and Logan Thompson to hold them down defensively, this Vegas team is a nightmare for any opponent. The Philadelphia Flyers, to their credit, have definitely turned the corner to start this season. They come into this game at 3-1-1, and their offense looks a lot better than it did last year. In addition, Flyers goaltender Carter Hart has regained his form and is again looking like their goalie of the future. Hart is off to a 3-1-0 start with a .929 save percentage. Philadelphia stands no chance against this Golden Knights team on Tuesday, but Flyers fans should nonetheless be aware that this will be an exciting season for their team.

The Pick: Vegas Golden Knights ML (-200)
