We’re now into second full week of January games in the 2024 portion of the 2023-24 season, and the action is really heating up as the NHL All-Star Game approaches. After the All-Star break, we’ll be jumping into the heart of the playoff race, where the stakes are particularly high in the Western Conference. Can Winnipeg, which barely qualified for last year’s playoffs, and Vancouver, which missed the postseason entirely, continue playing at a level above teams such as Colorado and Las Vegas? We’ll have to wait and see. For now, let’s take a look at some best bets for Tuesday night’s 10-game slate.

Best NHL Parlays - Tuesday, Jan. 9, 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+722) Seattle Kraken vs. Buffalo Sabres Prediction and Pick

The Seattle Kraken and Buffalo Sabres have started the new year off right, as both teams are undefeated so far in 2024 and both have scored convincing wins over good opponents. These teams meet for the first time this season on Tuesday night in Buffalo with a second game set for mid-March in Seattle. The Sabres’ offense was virtually unstoppable for much of last season, as Buffalo went through a good chunk of 2022-23 leading the league in goals per game. While their scoring numbers haven’t been as consistently good this season, the Sabres have a chance to get back on track in the new year. Both Seattle and Buffalo rank in the bottom third of the league when it comes to average goals per game. The Kraken have the edge defensively, since Seattle is 10th in the NHL as far as fewest goals allowed per game and fewest shots allowed per game this season. The Kraken will certainly make it tough for Buffalo’s offense to get going, but the Sabres scored nine goals in the two games they have already played this month, and the team appears to be heating up at this point in the season. If Buffalo can get going early and keep its foot on the gas in the offensive zone, then the Kraken will not be able to compete, despite having better defensive stats than the Sabres.

Leg-1 Parlay Pick: Buffalo Sabres (-110)

Los Angeles Kings vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction and Pick

We have a great matchup on hand Tuesday night when the Los Angeles Kings travel to Tampa to face the Lightning. Both teams look like they are bound for the playoffs, so this game should definitely make for must-see television. Tampa Bay opened its season without star goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, but the Bolts were able to tread water in his absence. However, overall, Tampa’s defense hasn’t performed well this season. The Lightning allow the NHL’s sixth-most goals per game and the 16th-most shots per game. That is not a good recipe for success against a Kings offense that ranks 10th in goals per game. While the Kings can certainly score, they make more of a name for themselves defensively. Los Angeles goaltender Cam Talbot has been phenomenal this season, and his defensemen have been locked in with him tending the net. The Kings are allowing the NHL’s third-fewest shots and second-fewest goals per game in 2023-24. While Tampa Bay’s offense is good, it will certainly struggle against this Kings defense on Tuesday night.

Leg-2 Parlay Pick: Los Angeles Kings (-115)

San Jose Sharks vs. Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction and Pick

We’ll see one of the higher juices of the 2023-24 NHL season when the San Jose Sharks and Toronto Maple Leafs face off on Tuesday night. The Sharks enter this game as major underdogs, because the Maple Leafs are nearly -500 to win it. Lines like this can scare bettors who feel like the underdog will prevail, and it’s a legitimate fear since that sometimes does happen, but it will not be the case on Tuesday night. This Sharks team is awful, ranking last in virtually every team-statistical category this season. San Jose stands no chance against a Maple Leafs team looking for all the wins it can get in pursuit of the Atlantic Division crown. This game could get out of hand early, so give me the Maple Leafs to win in regulation.

Leg-3 Parlay Pick: Toronto Maple Leafs Win/Draw/Win (-250)
Boston Bruins vs. Arizona Coyotes Prediction and Pick

Betting on teams playing the second game of a back-to-back set is something I tend to avoid, because the backup goaltender often plays in these situations, and the rest of the team is usually fatigued. However, the Bruins are not a typical team in that sense, because both of their goaltenders, Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman, are among the best in the NHL. This Bruins team is also loaded with talent and depth, so even if fatigue is a factor for some players, Boston can overcome that with its overall depth. The new year has been rough for the Bruins, who have gone 2-2 in January and are coming off Monday night’s shootout loss at Colorado. Even though this is a back-to-back on the road, the Bruins will be looking to push for a win Tuesday because Boston is headed for a stretch of games over the next week and a half against much tougher opponents in the Vegas Golden Knights, New Jersey Devils, and another date with the Avalanche. The Coyotes will have the advantage of being fresher on Tuesday, but that’s about all they will have in this matchup, because the Bruins are far and away the superior team.

Leg-4 Parlay Pick: Boston Bruins ML (-165)
