The football season returns in a matter of days, and we’re preparing for it with NFL futures bets for the entire NFC, including projected NFC East, NFC North, NFC South division champions and NFC championship odds for the coming season. We will also examine some NFL betting odds and uncover a couple of sleeper picks to make a run in the postseason.

The Eagles emerged as the frontrunners last season and came agonizingly close to claiming a win in the Super Bowl against Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Nick Bolton and the Kansas City Chiefs. Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts played incredibly well on the biggest stage and was rewarded with a mammoth contract from the Eagles during the offseason.

Let’s get into some NFC West odds as we make our picks for the division.

Favorites to win NFC West Division

Finally, we move on to the NFC West. There are some very good football teams in the NFC West, but the San Francisco 49ers have emerged as the favorites before the season gets under way.

The Niners’ odds to win the NFC West are currently -175, ahead of Seattle’s +200.

Three of the four teams in this division have great coaching staffs. Sean McVay has been influential since taking over the L.A. Rams, Pete Carroll is a Hall of Fame coach in Seattle who worked some magic with Geno Smith last season, and Kyle Shanahan has revolutionized the way his team plays offensive football in the NFL.

Last year’s 49ers season ended in devastating fashion without a serviceable quarterback in the NFC Championship game. This year, San Francisco is back seeking vengeance.

Brock Purdy looks as though he might be ready to go when the season gets started, and even if he’s not, he's going to be close to returning from his elbow surgery.

The 49ers have one of the best defenses in football with talent across all three zones. If their quarterback is healthy, there’s no reason they wouldn’t be in the conversation as one of this year’s best NFL futures bets to take it all the way.

2023-24 NFC West Predictions and Best Bets

Of the four NFC West teams, it’s tough to consider anybody but the Cardinals to finish at the bottom. Head coach Jonathan Gannon has a tough situation on his hands with a roster that has been bleeding talent and slowly crumbling after seemingly missing its window to win.

In the last two years alone, Arizona has lost J.J. Watt, Chandler Jones, Patrick Peterson, and Deandre Hopkins, and the roster just doesn’t look good going into this season.

It seems clear that the Cardinals are building for the future and not expecting to win now. Marquise Brown appears to be one of the only genuinely threatening options in the passing game, and quarterback Kyler Murray is not likely to play for several weeks.

There’s a reason Arizona’s odds to win the NFC West are astronomical in comparison to every other NFL team’s division odds. I’m more than comfortable picking them to finish last this year.

The Pick: Arizona Cardinals to finish fourth in the NFC West (-275)

While the 49ers are the division favorite, and deservedly so, I’m going to go with Seattle as my pick to win the division.

Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith did a good job last season. He was great at controlling what he could control and not trying to do too much. When you look at the weapons he has at his disposal this season, it’s hard not to get excited about this team.

Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf are proven high-value wide receivers who can consistently produce. Now, they have the company of arguably the best wide receiver from the 2023 NFL Draft, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, whom the Seahawks surprisingly selected in the first round.

On the defensive side, linebacker Bobby Wagner is back, and Pete Carroll and his staff have always been able to get the best out of their defense, even when Seahawks fans believe things are falling apart.

Throw in a backfield duo of Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet, who if healthy could easily handle his share of carries in a football season, and Seattle just looks loaded. They might not be the most glamorous pick among NFC West teams or even quite as exciting as the 49ers, but the Seahawks are good, and they’re always in the running with Pete Carroll in charge.

The Pick: Seattle Seahawks to win the NFC West (+200)
