The football season returns in a matter of days, and we’re preparing for it with NFL futures bets for the entire NFC, including projected NFC North, NFC SouthNFC West division champions and NFC championship odds  for the coming season. We will also examine some NFL betting odds and uncover a couple of couple of sleeper picks to make a run in the postseason.

The Eagles emerged as the frontrunners last season and came agonizingly close to claiming a win in the Super Bowl against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts played incredibly well on the biggest stage and was rewarded with a mammoth contract from the Eagles during the offseason.

Philly will face stiff competition from the likes of the 49ers, Seahawks, and Cowboys. Indeed, the NFC features a few teams that could really surprise the league.

Let’s get into some NFC East odds and NFL betting trends as we make our picks for the division.

Favorites to win NFC East Division

The Philadelphia Eagles have the best odds to win the NFC East and will be looking for an encore to their outstanding 2022-23 season that ended with a trip to the Super Bowl.

Jalen Hurts is now signed to a long-term deal that makes him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in NFL history. He was outstanding in the Super Bowl and nearly willed the Eagles to victory, as they fell just one holding call short of a potential ring.

This year’s Eagles look even better, which could prove dangerous for the rest of the NFC. Philadelphia was able to select both Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith in the first round of the NFL Draft, and the Eagles have brought in D’Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny at running back to make up for Miles Sanders’ departure.

The remaining NFC East teams each have their own stories, but the biggest threat to the Eagles should be the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys added wide receiver Brandin Cooks to support their passing game, and Dallas will make Tony Pollard its lead running back this year following the release of Ezekiel Elliott. On the defensive side, the franchise managed to once again retain defensive coordinator Dan Quinn despite his being a favorite for another head coaching position. That means the Cowboys will continue to have one of the most well-built and threatening defenses in football.

2023-24 NFC East Predictions and Best Bets

It’s hard to find a roster in the NFL right now that looks quite as deep or well-constructed as the current Philadelphia Eagles team. GM Howie Roseman has worked some serious magic to build this team, and the addition of Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith only strengthens it.

The defense is stacked. It has serious experience in the secondary in Darius Slay and James Bradberry. It also has one of the most loaded front sevens I’ve ever seen.

That front seven draws from the talents of defensive linemen Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, Josh Sweat, Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter, plus linebackers Hasaan Reddick, Nolan Smith, Nicholas Morrow and Nakobe Dean. Also now in the mix are linebackers Myles Jack and Zach Cunningham. This group is so stacked from top to bottom that the Eagles go into the new season as an obvious Super Bowl contender.

Jalen Hurts has developed into one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks while playing in a system that really works for him. He’s also got plenty of talented receivers to throw to this season.

I find it difficult to bet against the Eagles in my NFC East predictions, so let’s kick off the betting with Philly to win the division.

The Pick: Philadelphia Eagles to win the NFC East (-120)

The Eagles will be tough to bring down, but the Dallas Cowboys’ defense is not all that far behind Philadelphia’s. Of all the teams in the NFC East, it’s Dallas that should concern the Eagles most.

The Cowboys might not have quite the same level of depth, but Dan Quinn is one of the best and most qualified defensive coordinators in the league and has now turned down head coaching interviews and opportunities for two years in a row.

With Quinn in charge, the Cowboys’ defense is a force with players such as linebacker Micah Parsons flourishing in Quinn’s system. This year, the Cowboys have added first-round draft pick Mazi Smith to their defensive line and paired veteran Stephon Gilmore with 24-year-old Trevon Diggs in the secondary.

The addition of Brandin Cooks to the receiving corps can’t be underestimated, either. Cooks has been one of the most consistent receivers in football since his career got started in New Orleans.

Quarterback Dak Prescott will need to be in exceptional form for the Cowboys to challenge Philadelphia, but they certainly have a shot of upsetting the status quo in the NFC East.

The Pick: Dallas Cowboys to win the NFC East (+175)
