We learned Thursday that Ricky Rubio will never again play for the Cleveland Cavaliers or anywhere else in the NBA. After a long mental health break, he decided he had enough of the NBA lifestyle and would only play in Spain if he resumes his career.

This is not a great thing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have already been decimated by injuries and are outside of the top six in the East, putting them in play-in territory. Tonight they get a visit from the Washington Wizards, who are only interesting if you follow Kyle Kuzma’s hair stylings and/or the trade speculation market. They are in a rebuilding year after trading away Bradley Beal and are 6-27 with the third-worst point differential in the NBA: 10.6 points per game.

Cleveland is favored by 10.5, the Cavs’ largest spread of the season.
