The Minnesota Timberwolves have the best record in the Western Conference, while the Phoenix Suns have the sixth-best record.

So which team is the bigger favorite to win the NBA championship?

Friday night’s game in Phoenix will be just the second of the season between these teams after the Suns won the first one 133-115 back on Nov. 15.

Even if the Suns end up being a Play-In Tournament team by finishing seventh or worse, the amount of star power on their roster means they will likely still have lower odds to win a title than the Wolves. Such is the state of the NBA, where names like Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal carry a ton of weight.

The threesome of Durant, Booker, and Beal is healthy, and the two other starters are listed as questionable (center Jusuf Nurkic with calf soreness) and probable (Grayson Allen with hip soreness). Whether this game is a litmus test for the Suns has yet to be seen, but the fact remains that if Minnesota wins, we might just have a playoff preview on our hands. That’s because the Wolves would strengthen their hold on the No. 1 spot and set them up for a series against the No. 8 team, which the Suns could become.

Don’t forget that the Wolves might have Karl-Anthony Towns back for the postseason. They have not exactly been forthcoming with information since Towns underwent minor knee surgery in early March. He was supposed to have been re-evaluated a week ago.
