The US Open 2023 tennis tournament is now at the semifinal stage in the men’s singles, featuring two matchups that promise an exciting spectacle for fans of the sport.

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, the current world number one and two ranked players both remain in the tournament. This means that there is the possibility of a rematch of this summer’s 2023 Wimbledon final on the cards in New York.

Alcaraz will have to beat Daniil Medvedev first, who is ranked number three right now and has history in the U.S. Open having won it back in 2021. The two met in the semifinal at Wimbledon just a couple of months ago, and will now meet for a rematch on the hard court with Alcaraz looking to defend his 2022 U.S. Open victory.

Novak Djokovic has an interesting matchup too, facing 20-year-old Ben Shelton, who is playing in front of a home crowd in the U.S. Djokovic might be the favorite, but Shelton has been playing amazing tennis at the tournament so far He just beat fellow American Frances Tiafoe as the underdog in the quarterfinal stage.

Let’s take a look at the U.S. Open tennis betting odds for the next round of matches, and make our picks for the final.

Novak Djokovic vs Ben Shelton Prediction and Pick

Novak Djokovic continued his fine 2023 form with a straight sets win over Taylor Fritz earlier this week in a fairly comfortable quarter final encounter.

The Serbian tennis legend was expected to have a tough time against Fritz’ first serve, but dealt plenty of punishment on the second, allowing his opponent just a 29% win percentage on second serve points.

Novak has now won four of his five matchups at the tournament in straight sets, with the anomaly being the five set scare he had in the third round against Laslo Djere.

He now faces a 20-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia in the U.S. Open semifinal, who has been lapping up the home nation atmosphere and putting his name on the map this tournament.

Ben Shelton is now the youngest American to reach this stage of the U.S. Open since Andy Roddick did so in 2003. He’s in elite company already, and pulled off an underdog win over Frances Tiafoe (who’s ranked 10th in the world) in order to get here.

The young talent beat Tiafoe in four sets, serving 14 aces and winning at a high percentage on his own second serve. He now faces a tennis icon on his way back to the world's number one rank, who is 16 years his senior and holds the world record for Grand Slam titles with 23 to his name.

Shelton is a major underdog in this one, but he has absolutely nothing to lose. It’s been a remarkable run and hopefully one that sparks the beginning of a very promising career for one of U.S. tennis’ rising stars, but on this occasion, Djokovic might be a little out of reach.

While the odds of Novak winning aren’t exactly paying out, I'll start my U.S. Open best bets today with him winning in straight sets.

The Pick: Novak Djokovic to win 3-0 (-167)

Carlos Alcaraz vs Daniil Medvedev Odds, Moneyline & Spread – US Open Betting Men’s Odds 9/8

Match Winner: Carlos Alcaraz -400, Daniil Medvedev +300
1st Set Winner: Carlos Alcaraz -275, Daniil Medvedev +190
2nd Set Winner: Carlos Alcaraz -275, Ben Sheton +190
Total Games:
(34.5) Over -167, Under +120

(35.5) Over -138, Under +100
(36.5) Over -118, Under -118
(37.5) Over -112, Under -125
(38.5) Over +110, Under -154
Carlos Alcaraz vs Daniil Medvedev Prediction and Pick

While Novak Djokovic is the heavy favorite against the young Ben Shelton, it’s 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz who comes into the second semifinal as the strong favorite, and by now it’s easy to see why.

The defending U.S. Open champion and Wimbledon champion in London earlier this summer is now expected to reach the final once again at a Grand Slam tournament. The Spanish talent has two victories at these major events to his name already, and is proving to be almost unstoppable as one of the worlds very best tennis players in 2023.

Alcaraz has U.S. Open tennis odds at -400 to advance here, despite playing against the world’s number three ranked player in Daniil Medvedev. The two have met three times before, with Medvedev winning the first meeting at Wimbledon in 2021, before Alcaraz won the following two in straight sets.

In the Wimbledon semifinal in July, Alcaraz won in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 as he headed for his second Grand Slam with a win over Novak Djokovic in the final. The 20-year-old has proven himself to be stronger than Medvedev in recent play, and that has bettors leaning towards a comfortable win for him again here at the U.S. Open.

Medvedev’s road to the semifinal has featured straight set wins over three of his five opponents, including Andrey Rublev, the world's number nine, in the quarter final round.

Medvedev himself claimed that his performance will need to be an ‘11 out of 10, because that’s how Carlos is, very strong’. He knows that a flawless performance is required, and it’s tough to bet against a Djokovic vs Alcaraz final for the second Grand Slam tournament in a row.

The Pick: Carlos Alcaraz Game Handicap -4.5 (-167)
