The U.S. Open final in the women’s singles is now set, with world number six Coco Gauff facing the world number two Aryna Sabalenka on Saturday.

Gauff won by two sets to none against Karolina Muchova in the semifinal, and will now have an opportunity to win the U.S. Open at the age of just 19. The American would join a prestigious list of former U.S. born champions at the tournamen. This list includes American tennis icons in both Serena and Venus Williams, Billie Jean King, Tracy Austin, and most recently Sloane Stephens, who was the last American to win the tournament with her 2017 victory.

Aryna Sabalenka is in fine form too, and despite facing a home crowd atmosphere for Gauff, she enters the final as the favorite. We’re breaking down the US Open tennis betting odds for the final, including a preview of the matchup and a couple of our US Open best bets.

Coco Gauff vs Aryna Sabalenka Preview

Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka have met five times in their careers so far, dating back to their first meeting at the Top Seed Open in Lexington in 2020.

The 19-year-old American has a chance to win her first Grand Slam in front of a home crowd at the weekend. She’s taken care of business against back-to-back top 20 ranked players, and done so in straight sets as she powered her way into the final, playing some of the best tennis of her career in the process.

Gauff is a high intensity young player who plays fast and aggressive, and that should make for an entertaining final against one of the game’s most consistent players over the course of the year.

Aryna Sabalenka is now playing in her second Grand Slam Final in 2023, having won the Australian Open earlier in the year. She has made it to the semifinal or further in all four of her Grand Slam appearances in 2023, including a stunning loss in the Wimbledon semifinal that left her crushed.

Sabalenka nearly suffered the same fate against Madison Keys at the U.S. Open yesterday too, losing the first set 6-0 and then having to defend herself against Keys while she served for the match in set two.

The Belarusian 25-year-old then pulled it together and rallied her way back into the matchup, winning sets two and three 7-6. Madison Keys gave her some real trouble, but she overcame the deficit and scrambled her way to a win to reach her second Grand Slam final.

It’s going to be a tight contest, but let’s take a look at the odds and explain our best bets for the U.S. Open final.

Coco Gauff vs Aryna Sabalenka Head-to-Head Series

Gauff leads the head-to-head 3-2, but the Belarusian Sabalenka took the win in straight sets in the most recent encounter at the BNP Paribas Open in March earlier this year.

In that matchup Gauff struggled a little, and ended up losing the second set 6-0, which will no doubt be in her mind going into the final on Saturday.
Coco Gauff vs Aryna Sabalenka Prediction and PicksBefore the U.S. Open 2023 tennis tournament got started, we posted our favorite futures picks for both the men’s and women’s singles, and I’d chosen Aryna Sabalenka to take it all the way and win her second Grand Slam.

Now we find ourselves with a Sabalenka final, but facing a very talented budding star in American Coco Gauff. So do we stick with our prediction for the Belarusian, or pivot to back the American in her own back yard, with an opportunity for her very first Grand Slam.

Sabalenka’s form in the semifinal wavered. She got off to a very slow start, and at one point was defending her life in the competition while Madison Keys served for the win.

Coco Gauff is faster, more powerful and frankly even more dangerous than Madison Keys is right now, having taken a huge leap forward in her career in the last couple of months.

She won the Cincinnati Masters in August and is now undefeated through two straight tournaments with her second straight final.

As the underdog, Gauff has U.S. Open tennis odds of +100 to win, but I much prefer the +325 for her to win the match 2-1. I’m pivoting from my pre-tournament prediction and going with the American for her very first Grand Slam title.

The Pick: Coco Gauff to win 2-1 (+325)

My prediction for the match going to three sets kind of leads us into the U.S. tennis Open betting odds for the total number of games.

Aryna Sabalenka was in a dog fight in the semifinal, and despite losing the first set 6-0 still managed to play 28 games against Madison Keys. If the match does in fact go to three sets, I’d expect to see a couple of 6-4, 6-3 sets at least before the third and final deciding set.

Gauff shot out in front against Muchova, but allowed her to scramble back into the first set before winning it 6-3. I’d expect to see at least that same level of back and forth, and am therefore taking the over on the 23.5 games at +120.

The Pick: Total Games Over 23.5 (+120)
