The Spanish soccer league, La Liga returns this weekend, with defending champions Barcelona looking to repeat last year's success with the likes of Real Madrid & Atletico Madrid hot on their heels. We’re diving into La Liga outright winner odds, La Liga top goalscorer odds, La Liga top 4 finish odds, and La Liga relegation odds today, with best bets for all four betting markets.

Barcelona won the league last season by 10 points under the guidance of Xavi, but despite that success it's Real Madrid who have the best odds to win La Liga this season. It’s close, but Madrid sit at +100, while Barcelona are +135.

Outside of the two all-time greatest Spanish sides, La Liga winner odds drop significantly, with Atletico Madrid being the only side with lower odds than +2800 (Sevilla).

No team not named Barcelona, Real or Atletico Madrid has won La Liga title since 2004 when Valencia claimed the trophy by a five point margin, so the odds of any side outside of the top three doing so this year are just as outlandish.

Let’s dive into some La Liga outright winner odds, try to predict the winner and sleepers for La Liga 2023-24 season, and understand the course laid out in the top flight of Spanish soccer this year a little better.

Favorites to win La Liga 2023-24 season

Despite the loss of striker Karim Benzema, Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid remain the favorites for La Liga in 2023. The Brazilian pairing of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo will be expected to assume slightly different roles to make up for the loss of their star striker, whilst Jude Bellingham comes in as the big money signing of the summer.

If you’re looking to bet on a La Liga winner, Madrid are always one of the most obvious picks, but are they the best option this year? La Liga winner odds might slightly favor them, but rivals Barcelona are the defending champions, so we can’t rule them out.

La Liga Outright Winner Predictions and Best bets

Barcelona’s accomplishment in winning La Liga last season marked the first time they’d done so since the departure of Lionel Messi. Part of that success was a seriously impressive display defensively, allowing just 20 goals. That total gave them a +50-goal difference, and meant the Catalan giants allowed 13 goals fewer than the next best team in the league.

If they can maintain that form on the defensive side and continue to feed Robert Lewandowski going forward, then Barca could defend their title in the 2023 La Liga season.

That said, the absence of Ousmane Dembele could prove to be a problem. The Frenchman is expected to join Paris Saint Germain after they triggered his €50 million release clause and will leave a void at right wing for Barca.

If Barcelona can cover that loss and further develop the likes of Pedri as a creative player, then the +135 La Liga future odds look good to me.

The Pick: Barcelona (+135)

It might not be the most surprising pair of selections, but Real Madrid would be the only other viable option in my eyes this season. Atletico are an outsider right now, and beyond that you’re looking at the likes of Sevilla or Real Sociedad, which just isn’t going to happen.

Much like Barcelona, Madrid are experiencing a few challenges of their own this year. Karim Benzema took a mega deal to go to Saudi Arabia, and both Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard left the club.

Vini Jr and Rodrygo will lead the line and Jude Bellingham is expected to play an attacking midfield role behind them. The starting eleven still looks strong, the only question is whether they can replace Benzema’s goal scoring ability.

The Pick: Real Madrid (+100)

2023-2024 La Liga Sleeper Picks

You can’t label either Real Madrid or Barcelona as a sleeper, so that title has to go to Atletico. Their La Liga winner odds sit at +850, so a lot further off than that of Barca and Madrid, but not completely out of the question.

They have bolstered the squad with the now permanent move that see’s Antoine Griezmann become an official Atletico Madrid player again, plus the addition of left back Javi Galan from Celta Vigo.

Atletico do have a shot this year, especially if you consider their form in the second half of last season. After crumbling in the Champions League and exiting in the Group Stage, Atletico refocused and maintained the best form in La Liga in the second half of the season.

Antoine Griezmann will be key to their title challenge this season, but Diego Simeone’s side do have some young talent to accompany him. Any kind of lapse in form from the two favorites could open the door, especially if Atletico can remain focused for the whole season.

The Pick: Atletico Madrid (+850)
