The New Jersey Devils and the Columbus Blue Jackets will take the ice against each other for the fourth time this season on Friday night. The Devils currently lead the season series 2-1. With their last matchup in December going into overtime, we should be in for another good one.

Devils vs Blue Jackets Preview

The Devils and  Blue Jackets will conclude their regular season series on Friday night. These are the bottom two teams in the Metro, though the Devils are ten points clear of Columbus and still hold playoff aspirations. New Jersey enters this game losing four out of their last five games while Columbus comes in winning just two out of their last five games. With both teams struggling as of late this game is essential for both teams.

Devils vs Blue Jackets Predictions and Picks

The New Jersey Devils season is in pure turmoil right now. A potential Stanley Cup contender, the Devils are currently on the outside looking in on the playoffs and goaltender Vitek Vanecek has taken 10 steps back. Getting demoted to backup due to his performance, his .882 save percentage is one of the worst in hockey amongst starting goaltenders this season. With that being said, goaltender Nico Daws will get the start for New Jersey on Friday night. Daws is currently 3-3 on the season with a .917 save percentage and has not faced the Blue Jackets this season. Daws has played moderately well this season, though he’s had a few games where he let games get away from him, allowing multiple goals. The Blue Jackets rank 20th in the NHL in goals per game, so Daws should maintain the net well on Friday night as this Columbus offense disappears a lot. Goaltending has been a big issue for New Jersey, but their offense has bailed them out of a lot of games this season. Ranked 7th in goals scored per game, this New Jersey offense should be able to win this game themselves on Friday night.

The Pick: New Jersey Devils ML (-150)

This total is an interesting one because both teams have struggled defensively this season. New Jersey can’t find a competent goaltender and the Blue Jackets just can’t defend at all, as they allow the fourth most shots to opposing skaters this season. With New Jersey understands that they have a problem in goal this year, and their offense knows that they have to step up night in and night out. Given how bad the Blue Jackets defense has been this season, I expect the Devils to score a bunch in this one. Through three games against Columbus this season the Devils have totaled 11 goals. Even though I don’t trust the Blue Jackets’ offense, I really don’t trust the defense of New Jersey so give me the over in this one.

The Pick: Over 6.5 (-125)

Best NHL Player Prop Bets for Devils vs Blue Jackets

Jesper Bratt

Wingman Jesper Bratt needs to continue to lead this New Jersey offense as it is the motor to their train this season. With 46 points, 16 goals and 30 assists, Bratt has done a great job leading this Devils offense this season, especially with Jack Hughes (shoulder) out of the lineup. In his three meetings against Columbus he exceeded his current prop in one out of the three matchups. I like Bratt to exceed his current total for shots on goal on Friday night due to this Devils team needing their offense to succeed in order to avoid another loss. The Blue Jackets struggle to defend and allow the fourth most shots to opposing skaters this season. Let's go Bratt.

The Pick: Jesper Bratt over 3.5 shots on goal (+125)

Best Same Game Parlay NHL bets today for Devils vs. Blue Jackets: 3-Leg Parlay Pick (+400)

Money Line This is a crucial game for the New Jersey Devils on Friday night. They’ve lost four out of their last five games and this is a divisional matchup that could make a difference later in the season. Look for New Jersey to keep their foot on the gas pedal here and to continue to attack the net for all three periods.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: New Jersey Devils ML (-160)

Total Goals The Devils have 11 goals in three meetings against the Blue Jackets this season, including six goals in one matchup alone. Look for New Jersey to utilize their elite offense and put some pucks in the back of the net.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: New Jersey over 4.5 total goals (+195)

Jesper Bratt As touched on above, I’m expecting Bratt to be very aggressive against this Columbus team on Friday night and as a result he should find the back of the net in this matchup. Scoring in two out of his last five games and not scoring once against Columbus this season just screams Bratt goal on Friday night.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: Jesper Bratt anytime goalscorer (+140)
