Week 5 of the NHL season has been action-packed, and the Los Angeles Kings made a big statement in Las Vegas on Wednesday night by beating the defending Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights 4-1. There are 11 games on the schedule for Thursday, which should be a great night for hockey fans. Look for upsets, overtimes, and maybe even a shootout or two. Let's dive into Thursday night’s slate.

Best NHL Parlays - Thursday, Nov. 9: 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+391) Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction and Pick

Chicago rookie sensation Connor Bedard has really started to settle into the NHL, having scored a goal in four of his last six games. While the Blackhawks currently sit last in the Central Division at 4-7, they have certainly turned a corner this season. Bedard has obviously made them better, but the addition of winger Corey Perry has also played a part. The Blackhawks travel to Tampa on Thursday night to face a Lightning team is holding its ground despite playing without injured goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy. Tampa Bay is currently in second place in the NHL’s Atlantic Division. While scoring hasn’t been a problem for the Lightning, who rank fourth in the league for goals per game, defense has been a major issue. The Bolts allow the league’s eighth-most goals per game. Meanwhile, Chicago ranks 30th in goals scored per game, while the Blackhawks also allows the ninth-most goals per game this season. I wouldn’t be shocked to if Chicago pulls off an upset on Thursday night, but give me the over in a game where I expect to see a lot of scoring.

Leg-1 Parlay Pick: Over 6.5 (-135)
Dallas Stars vs. Columbus Blue Jackets Prediction and Pick

The Dallas Stars, currently second in the NHL’s Central Division, are a legitimate Stanley Cup contender this season. The team’s Achilles heel last season was its inability to close out games in regulation, as the Stars suffered numerous overtime losses in 2022-23. That’s something Dallas has managed to correct through its first 11 games, because the Stars have only one OT loss, which came against the powerhouse Vegas Golden Knights. On Thursday night, Dallas draws a Columbus Blue Jackets team that stands only one point above last place in the Metropolitan Division. The Blue Jackets just aren’t that good. Columbus allows the NHL’s 14th-most goals per game and ranks 24th in goals scored per game. This team is truly in a rebuilding or outright building stage. Of course, Columbus has never been a particularly great team either. Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger will be in net on Thursday night. He has been phenomenal this season with a .933 save percentage and has not allowed more than three goals in any start. Look for Oettinger to play the role of a cement wall in front of the net tonight as the Stars should easily win this one.

Leg-2 Parlay Pick: Dallas Stars ML (-200)

Seattle Kraken vs. Colorado Avalanche Prediction and Pick

The Colorado Avalanche recently went through a brief rough patch in losing three of four games, but they had an impressive bounce-back win over a loaded New Jersey Devils team on Tuesday. Tied with New Jersey heading into the third period, the Avalanche took over the final 20 minutes by scoring three goals for a 6-3 victory. Tonight’s opponent, the Seattle Kraken, has been regressing this season. A return to the playoffs next spring already feels like it would be a stretch for this Kraken team, particularly with other postseason contenders emerging out West. The Kraken allow the league’s 11th-most goals per game as well as the 11th-most shots on goal. Offensively, only four other NHL teams score fewer goals per game than Seattle. The Avalanche have scored at least six goals in three games this season – something the Kraken have managed to do only once. Colorado has a suffocating defense and ranks eighth in the NHL for fewest shots allowed per game. The Avs’ offense is also clicking on all cylinders. Look for the Avalanche to win this game convincingly on home ice.

Leg-3 Parlay Pick: Colorado Avalanche ML (-225)
Edmonton Oilers vs. San Jose Sharks Prediction and Pick

The San Jose Sharks enter Thursday night’s home game against Edmonton riding their first ever winning streak, which is only one game long at this point. San Jose got its first win of the season by beating the visiting Philadelphia Flyers on 2-1 on Tuesday night. The Sharks took an early 1-0 lead against a Flyers team that has yet to come back to win after trailing in any game this season. While emotions are suddenly high in San Jose, expect the Sharks to be quickly brought back to earth by an Edmonton Oilers team that has been very inconsistent this season. Despite having only one more win and ranking just one spot ahead of San Jose in the NHL’s Pacific Division, these Oilers are clearly the superior team going into this matchup. Both defenses are awful, with the Sharks allowing the most goals to opposing skaters this season and the Oilers right behind them with the second-most. While the over certainly is in play here, the safer pick is taking Edmonton on the moneyline.

Leg-4 Parlay Pick: Edmonton Oilers ML (-330)
