Few things in college basketball are better than regular-season conference play. Of course, the actual conference tournaments and March Madness are more exciting, but being able to watch great matchups night after night and throughout the final weekends of January is a truly great experience for college hoops fans.

It should be no surprise, then, that we have some terrific matchups in store on Wednesday night. The in-state rivalry between Auburn and Alabama is the evening’s headline game, but we can also look forward to some good ACC, Big East, Big 12, Big Ten, SEC, and Pac-12 matchups on Wednesday. Let’s jump right in and see what this loaded schedule has in store for us.

Best College Basketball Parlays Today – Wednesday, Jan. 24: 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+1376)

No. 8 Auburn vs. Alabama Prediction and Pick

This SEC showdown will take center stage on Wednesday as the evening’s marquee matchup. Eighth-ranked Auburn (16-2) visits Tuscaloosa to face in-state rival Alabama (12-6). Fans who like high-scoring games are in for a treat, because these are two of the highest-scoring teams in the nation. Alabama averages 89.2 points per game, which ranks third in Division I college basketball, and Auburn averages 83.7 points per game which ranks 13th.

Don’t be fooled by records or rankings here because this is hardly a typical game between ranked and unranked teams. Alabama has six losses this season, but three of them came against top 10 teams (Purdue, Creighton, and Arizona). On the other hand, Auburn’s non-conference schedule was much lighter, and the Tigers’ only true test came in their season-opener against Baylor -- a game they lost 88-82.

The line movement and majority of betting on this game leans heavily toward Alabama. I can’t fault anyone for favoring the Tide, because I can see either team coming out on top. However, I’m going with Auburn in this one. Yes, the Tigers have yet to really be tested by a top team other than Baylor this season, but that works in our favor here because we get to wager on Auburn as an underdog. This Tigers team is the real deal and will be at least a Sweet 16 contender by March.

Leg-1 Parlay Pick: Auburn ML (+140)
Drake vs. Missouri State Prediction and Pick

Drake has been one of the top teams in the Missouri Valley Conference for quite some time now, and the 16-3 Bulldogs are at it again this season with just one conference loss so far. On Wednesday night, the Bulldogs will visit Missouri State, a 10-9 team that just isn’t very good. These two met earlier in the season, and Drake won easily, 74-57. That game wasn’t even close for its final 30 minutes. While conference rematches are usually tough for both teams involved, I expect the same result on Wednesday night in Springfield, Mo. Drake is just head-and-shoulders better Missouri State. Give me the Bulldogs for another commanding win, because this team is preparing itself for a Cinderella run in March.

Leg-2 Parlay Pick: Drake ML (-300)
Utah vs. Washington State Prediction and Pick

We all know that when it comes to the college basketball season, conference games can be tough simply because it’s hard to beat the same team twice. Yada, yada, yada, whatever. Come on, let’s be honest when it comes to this particular matchup. The talent gap between Utah and Washington State is huge. The Utes already defeated the Cougars 80-58 on Dec. 29 -- outscoring them 49-29 in the second half. This Utah team is dangerous and will be something of a sleeper by the time March Madness arrives. Utes senior center Branden Carlson, a 7-footer, is a matchup nightmare because of his ability to stretch the floor and consistently knock down threes. Washington State has no one who can stop a player like that. I expect Utah to pick up where it left off in the second half of that Dec. 29 game against Washington State and dominate for the full 40 minutes on Wednesday night.

Leg-3 Parlay Pick: Utah ML (+105)
Colorado vs. Washington Prediction and Pick

Consistency has been a problem for Colorado and Washington this season. Both the Buffaloes and Huskies can look like NCAA Tournament teams one night and Division II schools the next. Despite their inconsistencies, both teams can score points in abundance. Colorado and Washington are both within the nation’s top 40 for points per game, each averaging more than 80 points. Since the Buffaloes average 81.1, and Washington averages 80.3, you can never count either school out of a game. When these teams met earlier on Dec. 29, Colorado controlled the game for its first 30 minutes until Washington stormed back to grab a commanding 63-56 lead with about five minutes remaining. The Buffs rallied for the win, but if Washington had played a better first half, the Huskies likely would have run away with that first matchup. Give me Washington in this rebuttal game.

Leg-4 Parlay Pick: Washington ML (+125)
