NBA Player Prop Bets Today for Wednesday, December 6, 2023.

Aside from the in-season tournament teams, the entire NBA has been off since Sunday. So do not expect to have to contend with any “load management” or rest issues on a busy night in the NBA, the league where commissioner Adam Silver’s rules are ignored.

Silver runs a league in which the Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder are the top two teams in the West, yet nobody ever talks about them outside of those markets.

Both are in action tonight on a slate of 11 games, including the T-Wolves playing on ESPN against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs, losers of 14 in a row. The Wolves are 12 ½-point favorites there. And the other “biggest losers” – the Detroit Pistons with a 17-game loss streak – are only 1 ½-point underdogs against the injury-ravaged Memphis Grizzlies.

For the most part, we try to stay away from the worst teams when making player prop picks, although we make exceptions when an individual player’s circumstances warrant it. That is not the case tonight.

Best Philadelphia vs. Washington Player Prop Bets

Joel Embiid 40+ points (+500)

Embiid is coming off a 30-point, 11-rebound, 11-assist triple-double against the Los Angeles Lakers, and tonight the unenviable task of stopping him falls upon Daniel Gafford of the lowly Washington Wizards, who are languishing in 14th place in the East with a 3-16 record. Embiid went off against Gafford for 48 points the last time the teams met, scoring 29 in the third quarter alone. The NBA’s leading scorer is due for another 40-spot, and we like these odds better than the +550 triple-double line.

The Pick: Joel Embiid to score 40 or more points (+550).

Best Brooklyn at Atlanta Player Prop Bets

Trae Young to score 40+ points (+675)

The last time these two teams played, they combined for 292 points in a game that went into overtime with Young taking 31 shots and scoring 43. Young went off for 45 last Thursday against San Antonio before going for 32 on Sunday against Milwaukee, attempting 57 shots combined those two most recent games (not a typo). There is no reason why this should not be a high octane game, and Young is a safer play than the Nets’ hottest player, Mikal Bridges, who had 26 first-quarter points Sunday against Orlando. Psst: The Nets are kind of sneaky good.

The Pick: Trae Young to score at least 40 points (+675)

Best Mavericks at Jazz Player Prop Bets

Luka Dončić 12+ assists (+320)

There are no lines up on Mavs rookie Dereck Lively, which is disappointing after he had a monster game of 20 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocks in 39 minutes, making all nine of his shots. That helped Dončić accumulate a season-high 18 assists. Lively is a sneaker sleeper in Rookie of the Year futures markets (+25000), and we expect Dončić to be feeding him all night against new Utah starting center Omer Yurtseven.

The Pick: Luka Dončić to have at least 12 assists (+320)

Best Denver vs. L.A. Clippers Player Prop Bets

Kawhi Leonard 35+ points (+850)

He scored 31 the last time these teams met just nine days ago, attempting 26 shots – his second-highest total of the season. Leonard has scored 30 or more points three times this season, and the incentive (+850 for 35 or more vs. +300 for 30 or more) for him to have something approaching his a season-high of 38 (Nov. 1 against the Lakers) is that this is a nationally televised game on ESPN, and the Clippers will want to make a statement that they have worked out the kinks since adding James Harden and can match up with the best of them. Which is a title befitting the Nuggets since they are the defending champs, but have been a bad road team this season going 5-7 away from Ball Arena, where they are 9-0.

The Pick: Kawhi Leonard to score 35 or more points (+850).
