Seventy-two hours without playing basketball is a very long time in the NBA, where back-to-backs are more uncommon than they once were and back-to-back-to-backs are something the older retired players recall not all that fondly.

Tonight, we have 11 games on the schedule, all involving teams that have not played since Sunday and will not play again until Friday as the NBA’s In Season Tournament holds the spotlight Thursday from Las Vegas.

So everyone should have their A-games working tonight, on offense and on defense. That means we should expect offensive and defensive trends to hold with the possibility of an aberrational game lessened tonight on a light week.

The ESPN doubleheader is the West-leading Timberwolves against the San Antonio Spurs and the reigning champion Denver Nuggets against the Los Angeles Clippers.  Four of the five East vs. East games look shaky at best, but luckily there is a fifth that should be a track meet: Brooklyn at Atlanta. So that is where we shall start …

Best NBA Parlays Today – December 6, 2023, 4-leg Parlay Picks (+1230)

Nets vs. Hawks Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NBA Betting Lines 12/6

Moneyline: Brooklyn Nets (+130), Atlanta Hawks (-160)
Spread:
 Nets +3.5 (-110), Hawks -3.5 (-110)
Total:
Over/Under 243.5 points

Nets vs. Hawks Prediction and Pick

The last time these teams played, they combined for 292 points. Scoring is way up in the NBA this season, and the Nets have been getting great outings from Mikal Bridges and Cam Thomas, while Atlanta feeds Trae Young over and over and over again. This over might just hit by the end of the third quarter if we see a repeat of what we saw last time they played each other.

The Pick: Nets-Hawks over 243 ½ (-110)

Nuggets vs. Clippers Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NBA Betting Lines 12/6

Moneyline: Denver Nuggets (-105), LA Clippers (-115)
Spread:
 Nuggets +1.5 (-115), Clippers -1.5 (-105)
Total:
Over/Under 227.5 points

Nuggets vs. Clippers Prediction and Pick

No team goes over less than the Clippers, who strung together seven consecutive unders before going way over against the Kings and Warriors last week when the line was 230 and 230 ½. These two teams met last week and combined for 217 to finish a half-point below the over/under, and having this line set eight points higher is probably an overcompensation for the amount of rest both teams have had coming into tonight’s second half of the ESPN doubleheader. The Clippers and Nuggets also played on Nov. 14 and combined for 219 points, and we would call 217 and 219 a pattern. This line seems about five points too high.

The Pick: Nuggets-Clippers under 225 ½ (-105)

Heat vs. Raptors Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NBA Betting Lines 12/6

Moneyline: Miami Heat (-105), Toronto Raptors (-115)
Spread:
 Heat +3.5 (-105), Raptors -3.5 (-115)
Total:
Over/Under 219.5 points

Heat vs. Raptors Prediction and Pick

OK, the Heat are having a tough stretch, losing four out of five, and the players are having to endure cold weather in Ontario all day while waiting for this one to start. That usually means a day spent inside the team hotel, which does not quite match what game days look like in Miami, where only the foolish spend their days inside. So the Heat will be grumpy, about the cold and about the slump, and their coach will have them primed to take out that anger on the Raptors, who are outclassed chemistry-wise even if you concede that the teams are equally matched talent-wise. Miami only needs to travel once more between now and Dec. 19, and they were doing just fine (winning nine out of 10 before losses to the Knicks, Nets, Bucks and Pacers. This looks like a game that goes to the buzzer.

The Pick: Heat + 3 ½ points at Toronto (-115)

Thunder vs. Rockets Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NBA Betting Lines 12/6

Moneyline: Oklahoma Thunder (-130), Houston Rockets (+110)
Spread:
 Thunder -1.5 (-115), Rockets +1.5 (-105)
Total:
Over/Under 226.5 points

Thunder vs. Rockets Prediction and Pick

The most underreported NBA story this season is what is happening atop the Western Conference standings, where Minnesota is first and Oklahoma City is second. The Thunder have the second-highest point differential in the league, 8.3 points, and are going up against a much-improved Rockets team that is 8-1 at home and 0-9 on the road. That home record is probably impacting this line too much here. That is our operative thought against a terrific young Thunder team that is meshing wonderfully with Chet Holmgren playing his rookie season a year later than planned.

The Pick: Thunder – 1 ½ at Rockets (-115).

Put those four picks together, and the odds are +1232. A $10 bet would return $133.23, which should fill your gas tank unless you are driving something with commercial plates. Good luck!
