Karl-Anthony Towns is expected back on Friday night for the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are trying to secure second place in the NBA’s Western Conference after a Wednesday night loss at Denver that all but ensured the defending champion Nuggets will finish with the top seed.

The Timberwolves are tied with Oklahoma City for second place, and the Thunder, who also want that No., 2 seed, host the hurting Milwaukee Bucks Friday in a game that will have playoff implications in the East.

Minnesota has a non-conference home game against the Atlanta Hawks, who are now locked into the No. 10 seed and will visit Chicago next week for the first Eastern Conference play-in game.

Slowly but surely, the playoff picture is coming into focus, and the New York Knicks’ victory in Boston last night could go a long way toward making them the No. 2 seed in the East. If the Knicks defeat the Nets and Bulls, and the Bucks lose on the road to the Thunder and Magic, New York will open the postseason at home as a No. 2 seed.

Still to be determined in the West are seedings for spots 6 through 10, which means the Pelicans, Suns, and Kings are playing for a chance to have next week off if they can finish with the seventh seed.

All of this impacts how Friday night’s games will be played, so let’ have at it with a parlay card that takes us into Saturday with enough money to travel to Augusta for the final two rounds of The Masters – or at least to afford ESPN+ so that we can watch the early action on Saturday and Sunday.

Best NBA Parlay Today – Friday, April 12, 2024: 6-Leg Parlay Picks (+4748)

Nets-Knicks over 210½

New York has gone comfortably over in three straight games -- the latest a 118-109 victory at Boston on Thursday that kept the Knicks’ hopes for a No. 2 seed alive. As long as they don’t get more than a dozen shots blocked by Nicolas Claxton and teenager Noah Clowney, this game should go over even if the ‘Bockers can’t quite cover the 10½-point spread.

Leg-1 Parlay Pick: Nets-Knicks over 210½ (-110)

Magic +7½ at Philadelphia

What’s up with nobody giving Orlando any respect? Yes, we know the Sixers have Joel Embiid back and are incentivized to climb out of the No. 7 spot in the East, but the Magic are also trying to get the best seed possible and can finish anywhere from third to ninth. So, there is a lot on the line tonight in Philly, and this line seems particularly high, especially when noting that Orlando is an NBA-best 50-30-0 against the spread.

Leg-2 Parlay Pick: Magic +7½ points at Philadelphia (-105)

Pacers +3½ at Cavaliers

Cleveland is only 13-16-1 against the spread, and the Pacers are trying not to fall into the No. 7 spot in the East when they could still finish as high as No. 3. Yes, you need a graduate degree in higher math to figure out all the postseason seeding possibilities in the East, while a mere undergrad degree is needed in the West, where the Lakers and Warriors are among five teams that could finish as the No. 7 seed and get next week off. This particular game should go down to the wire.

Leg-3 Parlay Pick: Pacers +3½ at Cavaliers (-110)

Lakers-Grizzlies over 226½

When these teams played at the end of March, they combined for 260 points. El Lay is listing Anthony Davis as probable and LeBron James as questionable, but with postseason seedings on the line (the Lakers can finish anywhere from seventh to 10th, we expect the Lakers to have all hands on deck to produce a high-scoring affair.

Leg-4 Parlay Pick: Lakers-Grizzlies over 226½ points (-110)

Hawks-Timberwolves over 226½

Atlanta has gone over in three straight and four of five, while Minnesota has gone over in three straight and five of six. With the Wolves getting Karl-Anthony Towns back and now being at full strength as they go for the No. 2 seed, the Hawks should get steamrolled – hence the 13½-point spread. This one should be a laugher that is already in the hands of bench players when it make this number in the fourth quarter.

Leg-5 Parlay Pick: Hawks-Timberwolves over 226½ points (-105)

Nuggets-Spurs under 223½

These teams have gone under the last two times they played, including a meeting on March 15 in Austin, Texas, where the arena was not NBA-ready and Spurs broadcaster Bill Schoening had to deliver his broadcast over his cellphone. So this will be the first time this season that Nikola Jokic is fueled by guacamole. He and his teammates should have this one in the bag by halftime against the worst team in the West.

Leg-6 Parlay Pick: Nuggets-Spurs under 223 ½ (-110)

Putting those six picks together produces a line of +4748, meaning a $10 wager would produce a $484.85 payout. Insert additional zeroes at your own peril, and good luck!
