We saw Ja Morant be a hero in his return, the mighty Celtics fall in San Francisco, the Suns lose in Portland and Giannis Antetokounmpo drop another triple-double on an eventful Tuesday night in the NBA.

Tonight, we have 10 games on the slate, six of them the unpredictable East vs. West variety, along with one in Dallas pitting the Clippers, now the holders of the NBA’s longest winning streak (eight), playing the Mavericks.

The Lakers are in Chicago where just about everyone on the Bulls is the subject of trade chatter, and the defending champion Nuggets are in Toronto, where the same thing (trade chatter) is happening surrounding Pascal Siakam, O.G. Anunoby and Gary Trent.

Players who signed contracts over the summer became trade-eligible on Dec. 15, and suffice to say that there are a handful of general managers and coaches under the gun to fix their teams and fix them quickly in order to remain employed past New Year’s Eve.

That is going to bring a sense of desperation to a number of tonight’s games, and that will be our operating thought in picking out four player props that we believe can hit at enticing odds. So let’s give it a whirl, shall we?

Instead, we ride Kawhi, who has scored at least 31 points in four of his last six games and will want to make amends for an 8-point outing he had against the Mavs on Nov. 25 – only his second single-digit scoring game of the season. Leonard has shot 50 percent or better in 10 straight games, and he played light minutes in the Clips’ last two games.

This is a road game for the Knicks even though they are in their home city, and they are coming off a nice win against the Lakers while playing their third game in four nights. Tonight they play a Nets team that we have been calling sneaky good, and the line is only Knicks -1.5 with an over/under of 233.5. That total is New York’s second-highest of the season (Their string of hitting eight straight overs ended against the Lakers). Coach Tom Thibodeau has been riding Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson extra hard, and the Knicks are one of the teams most prominently mentioned in trade rumors. They can package Evan Fournier and his expiring contract with several of the additional first-round picks that general manager Leon Rose has stockpiled. Knicks fans are anxious since it has been 50 years since they won a title.

New York will be without center Mitchell Robinson until February at the earliest, and Isaiah Hartenstein may soon find himself a starter. Jericho Sims (right ankle sprain) is questionable. For Brooklyn, Lonnie Walker (hamstring) and Dennis Smith Jr. (back) are out.

One year ago in late December, Randle began a stretch of rebounding prowess that was extraordinary, grabbing at least 15 boards in nine of 14 games, including six in a row. With the Nets depleted at center and Hartenstein still coming off the bench, we could see Randle getting halfway or better to 15 by the end of the first quarter. This is an extremely enticing line for a player who has been the steadiest member of the Knicks for the entire season.

The Lakers are beginning a three-game road trip and have not looked all that great since winning the inaugural NBA Cup, and this is the easiest game of the three as they travel next to Minnesota and then to Oklahoma City before playing the Celtics on Christmas Day.

Chicago forward Torrey Craig is out 4-6 weeks with a right plantar fascia sprain, while the Bulls should have Alex Caruso (sprained left ankle) and Patrick Williams (right calf strain) available. For the Lakers, everyone is healthy, and that includes Gabe Vincent after he missed 23 games with a knee injury.

Bulls guard Coby White went for 24 points, nine assists and eight rebounds in 40 minutes as the Bulls defeated the Sixers last time out, and he is averaging 25.8 points per game this month.
