NBA Player Prop Bets Today: December 13, 2023  Best Philadelphia 76ers vs Detroit Pistons Player Prop BetsJoel Embiid 15+ rebounds (+330)

Lest we all forget, Joel Embiid is the defending Most Valuable Player and the defending scoring leader after he averaged 33.1 points per game last season. Well, his scoring average is actually up three-tenths of a percent this season, and his assists are up by 2.2 per game to 6.4. His only triple-double came Nov. 27 against the Lakers, so his triple-double prop line of +475 is not exactly enticing. That is a line we would see associated with the likes of Luka Dončić or Nikola Jokic. A double-double is pretty much a lock, but that line is -475, which is a “keep your money in your wallet” line as far as we are concerned. Embiid and the 76ers are playing against a Pistons team that has lost a franchise record 20 consecutive games. Detroit are 11 ½-point underdogs, the biggest dogs on the board, and they will be facing Embiid for the first time since last January when they lost by 31. We do not expect a close one tonight, but we do expect Embiid to be dominant early when this one is quickly becoming a blowout. We have seen superstars pile it in in first halves this season, and we can see that here. The last time Embiid grabbed at least 15 rebounds was against – you guessed it – the Pistons back on Nov. 10. We can see history repeating itself there at a nice price.

The Pick: Joel Embiid to grab at least 15 rebounds (+330)
Best Charlotte Hornets vs. Miami Heat Player Prop Bets

Terry Rozier 12+ assists (+330)

Ever since LaMelo Ball went down with yet another ankle injury, Terry Rozier has taken over the point guard duties even though he is naturally a shooting guard. In each of the past two games he has dropped 13 assists, including two nights ago in Miami, where the Hornets have been camping out and soaking in the sun. They will be going against a Miami team that is at less than full strength, and the Heat will hit him with as many double-teams as possible to try to make Charlotte’s lesser players beat them – the same strategy that worked Monday when the Heat won 116-114. Rozier has had 13 assists in three of the last five games, so going for 12 or more is not all that great of a leap.

The Pick: Terry Rozier to have 12 or more assists (+330).

Best Memphis Grizzlies vs. Houston Rockets Player Prop Bets Desmond Bane 8+ assists (+330)

The Grizzlies must wait three more games before Ja Morant returns to the team, and boy do they need him. Entering Wednesday, they are 6-16 and sit in 13th place in the West. Without a pure point guard, let alone one of the best in the entire NBA, they have been using a playmaker-by committee approach. They also have been leaning on Bane as their primary scorer, but his point totals have been hit-or-miss – as many as 49 on Dec. 6, then just 16 two nights later against Minnesota. His assists have been hit-or-miss, too, but he has had at least eight in five of the past 10 games. We like that success rate because he will be defended tonight by Fred

VanVleet, a terrific on-the-ball defender who often forces his man to give the ball up. While everyone else watches Dillon Brooks against his former team, you are invited to watch Bane have his team playing one of their better games of the season because motivation works both ways.

The Pick: Desmond Bane to record at least 8 assists. (+330)
Best Los Angeles Lakers vs. San Antonio Spurs Player Prop Bets   Victor Wembanyama under 18 ½ points (+175)

The Spurs enter this game riding a 17-game losing streak, which allows them to make fun of the Detroit Pistons when they are not looking in their collective mirror. Anthony Davis is coming off another monster game of 37 points and 11 rebounds after going for 40 and 21 against Indiana in the NBA Cup championship game, and he is going to want to show the Spurs stringbean rookie what happens when a 19-year-old goes up against a seasoned veteran. Wembanyama scored 12 and 15 in two of his last three games and has missed 11 of his last 12 3-pointers. Those numbers could be early signs of him hitting the rookie wall and starting to fade. Davis has been advocating for a Defensive Player of the Year award (he is the +375 second choice on the Betway Board in Arizona), and tonight could be a signature accomplishment if he can shut down the French rookie, especially on the boards as Wemby has grabbed double-figure boards in 5 straight games. Davis is incentivized, and we like that.

The Pick: Victor Wembanyama under 18 ½ points (+175)
