Hard to tell who is worse: The Detroit Pistons or the San Antonio Spurs. Both have two of the last three No. 1 draft picks, both have coaches who have won NBA championships, and both have not won a single game in 5 ½ weeks.

It may not be long before we are looking at one of these two teams threatening the NBA record of 28 consecutive losses by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2015-16.

So in the meantime, we look closely every night at the point spread lines involving these teams, because nobody wants to be the laughingstock of the league amongst their peers for being a member of the team that lost to Detroit or San Antonio.

Remember: NBA players are proud, and NBA players throw shade at each other (especially anything involving Draymond Green). So let’s use that as our operating thought.

Best NBA Parlays Today – Wednesday, December 13, 2023: 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+678)

Leg-1 Parlay Pick: Los Angeles Lakers – 1 ½ at San Antonio Spurs

This line is low (and it dropped from 2 ½ to 1 ½ this morning) because the Lakers are on the second half of a back-to-back, but they only traveled from Dallas, and that was a puddle jump on a charter flight that was so quick, they did not even have time to feed the players their shrimp cocktails. The Lakers won the NBA Cup on Saturday and have been getting consistent greatness from LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Austin Reaves. This should be a blowout, and you are welcome to consider the alternate spread line of 6-10 points as the winning margin, which is +10. Warning, an 11-point win or greater would make that bet a loser.

The pick: Lakers – 1 ½ points at Spurs.

Leg-2 Parlay Pick: Indiana Pacers at Milwaukee Bucks under 258 ½

When these teams played in the semifinals of the NBA Cup, the line was the largest in NBA history: 257. Well, records are meant to be broken, and we now have an even higher over under by 1 ½ points. We are well aware that the Pacers have been pounding the overs, and the Bucks have gone over in 15 of 23. This line seems just a wee bit too high, especially with the familiarity these teams have with each other after playing just six days ago. Remember, the “under” is the only wager in sports that is a winner from the first play of the game until it is no longer a winner anymore. 258 ½ is certainly within the realm of possibility for either of these teams in any of their games, but the thought here is the oddsmakers went overboard.

The pick: Pacers vs. Bucks under 258 ½.

Leg-3 Parlay Pick: Philadelphia 76ers Moneyline at Detroit Pistons (-700)

This is the easiest pick of the night and is being included simply as a parlay builder, because we do not want to bore you with a 3-leg parlay. The Pistons are a dumpster fire who have zero chance against a motivated Joel Embiid and Most Improved Player leading candidate Tyrese Maxey. This one should have the fans heading for the exits in Downtown Detroit after the third quarter. This would make it 21 consecutive losses for the Pistons.

The Pick: Philadelphia moneyline at Detroit (-700)

Leg-4 Parlay Pick: Charlotte Hornets + 8 ½ at Miami Heat.

Of the Heat’s 13 wins, only four have been by 9 points or more. They play close games, and although the Hornets are missing their best player, they have grown accustomed to playing without LaMelo Ball. Also, the Heat will be without three starters: Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo and Haywood Highsmith, so that sort of balances things out. The line seems too high, simple as that.

The Pick: Hornets + 8 ½ at Miami.
