Suns vs Mavericks Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NBA Betting Lines 2/22

Moneyline: Phoenix Suns +115, Dallas Mavericks -135
Spread: Suns +2.5 (-110), Mavericks -2.5 (-110)
Total: Over/Under 243.5 points

Here is the thing about the Suns vs. Mavericks game that is more interesting than just one single Thursday night TNT game: You could make a case that either team is the best equipped to emerge from the West, and your argument would be sound.

Better yet, the Suns are now outliers compared to how they were regarded earlier this season, priced at +1400 to win the championship. The Mavs, who made two big moves at the deadline by trading for Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington, are even more enticing with a +2500 championship price tag.

The Suns have a big Three of Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal and Devin Booker that is still figuring things out in their first season together, while the Mavs are still trying to incorporate their new guys. Both teams have three players (Durant, Booker and Beal for Phoenix. Luka Doncic, Tim Hardaway and Kyrie Irving for Dallas) who have scored at least 40 points in a game this season, and no other team except Atlanta can make the same boast. Phoenix has a better center than last season, replacing DeAndre Ayton with Jusuf Nurkic, while Dallas has a better center in February than they had in January when Dwight Powell was the starter. It is now Daniel Gafford, who has averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds since coming over from Washington.

Phoenix is 5th in the West; Dallas is 7th. One game separates them in both the win and the loss columns. Both play in a very loaded Western Conference, and neither is a bad bet to win it all.

Let’s just remember one thing about the NBA: Every season ends with 29 losers and one winner. It is the nature of the beast. In May and June, nobody remembers or cares what happened in late February.

So for now, let’s just handle this as prepping for a great game on the first night back after the All-Star break. The teams, due to the Mavs’ roster changes, have not played each other this season, for all intents and purposes.

The line is about where it should be: Mavs by 3.5 because they are at home. What we are looking for here are three things that are not all that farfetched that we can group together to get paid on a Same Game Parlay, and none of us should care who wins or loses – even if you are a diehard Mavs or Suns fan. It is just one February game, so let’s try to play it right.

Best NBA Same Game Parlay Picks Today for Suns vs Mavericks: 3-Leg Parlay Picks (+8000)

Luka Doncic to have a triple-double

The Slovenian, who could not execute a dunk during Sunday’s All-Star game, is nonetheless a triple-double machine in much the same way that Domantas Sabonis of Sacramento and Nikola Jokic of Denver are, although he has fewer (10). Doncic had two in October, none in November, four in December, three in January and has one in February. He dropped 50 on the Suns on Christmas. He is going to do something special, it is just a matter of when that will be. It says here he is overdue. This line dropped from +350 to +240 over the course of two hours Wednesday morning.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Luka Doncic to have a triple-double (+210)

Kyrie Irving to record a double-double

Irving was conspicuously absent from All-Star Weekend, even though he is not having the kind of season that would merit an All-Star selection. But he is averaging 25.5 points, and he has had nine assists four times, eight assists five times, and double figures in assists three times this season. He also has had double figure rebounding games three times. Irving likes the spotlight to shine on him as much as any of the five superstars who will be playing, and we are counting on the TNT broadcast to be a motivator for him. He scored 41 and 31 in his last two games before the break, and if enough of his passes find Gafford near the rim, he can get where he needs to be with assists.

SGP-Leg 2: Kyrie Irving to record a double-double (+400)

Devin Booker to record a double-double

What comes next in this sequence: Four, three, two …?

The answer is one. Booker had four double-doubles in November, three in December, two in January and has none in February, coming closest on Feb. 13 with 23 points and nine assists against Sacramento. In this game, he has a rested Durant and a rested Beal and a rested Nurkic and a rested Grayson Allen to get the ball to. His double-doubles always come with assists, and he is due. February is almost over. (Yes, it is a short month. We knew that, too).

Leg-3 SGP: Devin Booker to record a double-double (+400)

Putting those three props together produces a Same Game Parlay with odds of +9000, meaning a $10 wager would pay $910. And you get to see two teams with worthy championship prices test themselves against some stiff competition. Certainly not your average No. 5 vs. No. 7 game, that’s for sure. Enjoy, and good luck!
