Thunder vs. Warriors Predictions and Picks

We will not have Draymond Green putting anyone in headlocks tonight, at least not on the basketball court. What Dray does with his free time during his five-game suspension (he is not even allowed in the arena) is Dray’s call, and a headlock situation can happen just about anywhere, so maybe the best bet in the Bay Area is staying away from Draymond’s favorite watering hole.

What we have in the second half of tonight’s NBA TV doubleheader is a depleted Warriors team that will be without Green (suspension) and Steph Curry (knee) going up against an Oklahoma City Thunder team playing at full strength and giving 2½ points on the road.

The Thunder are almost never road favorites, but the two missing Golden State starters are the reason here. Chris Paul will take over one starting spot, and the other figures to be occupied by Jonathan Kuminga or Dario Saric, neither of whom is anywhere near as defensively proficient as Green.

So, that is where we are going to try to capitalize: OKC’s regulars going against Golden State’s backups. We want nothing to do with the game line, because Golden State finds ways to win at home. So here we go …

Best NBA Same-Game Parlay Picks Today for Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Golden State Warriors - 2 Leg Same Game Parlay Picks (+4000)

Leg-1: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to double-double

Here is a First Team All-NBA selection from last year who double-doubled in his first two games of the season and has not done so since. Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is going to be defended by Chris Paul tonight, and the age difference (Shai is 25; Paul is 38) is going to be a factor if the Thunder choose to exploit it by pushing the pace with Gilgeous-Alexander driving and dishing or driving and swishing, whichever seems like the best choice at the time. To us, that is the perfect recipe for a double-figure assists night, and we know Shai will get at least 10 points. He is overdue for a double-double in a big way.

The Pick: Shai Gilgeous Alexander to record a double-double (+350)

Leg-2: Josh Giddey to triple-double

Josh Giddey, the Thunder’s 21-year-old Australian shooting guard, had four triple-doubles in his rookie season and four last season. He got off to a slow start this season before turning things up over the past two games (10 points, 10 assists and six rebounds against Phoenix; 18 points, seven assists and seven rebounds against San Antonio). He has been playing third fiddle to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and wunderkind rookie Chet Holmgren throughout this season, but the fact of the matter is that he is the second-best player on his team and needs to be integrated into the flow of the offense better. We have started to see that in the past two games, and tonight he will not have to deal with Draymond Green’s defense, which will create scoring and rebounding opportunities that would not otherwise exist. If Giddey’s offensive rebounds can be turned into kick-out assists or lobs to Holmgrem and Jalen Williams, he will be able to get to 10 dimes. The price is right for the team’s other Mr. Overdue.

The Pick: Josh Giddey to triple-double (+1800)

Usually, we would add a third leg just to boost the payout, but there is no line posted for the one Golden State player we expect to have a breakout game -- rookie Brandin Podziemski out of Santa Clara. He logged 38 minutes following Green’s ejection vs. Minnesota. Feel free to wager a cold beer with your best bud that the kid scores at least 10 points. As for your Betway Same-Game Parlay, keep it at two legs for the nice price of +4000. A $10 wager would pay $410.
