Knicks vs. 76ers Predictions and Best Bets

There is a bit of a euphoria surrounding the New York Knicks following their acquisition of O.G. Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors. Anyone who knows anything about the NBA realizes that general manager Leon Rose is bound to make another big deal within the next month as the NBA trade deadline approaches, so the Anunoby trade may not have been the proverbial “big” trade.

In Philadelphia, there is not a lot to be upset about now that Joel Embiid is back in the lineup and producing like he wants another MVP award. He is coming off a 31-point, 15-rebound, 10-assist triple-double against the Chicago Bulls while paying just 31 minutes. He has had a double-double in every game since Nov. 9, and tonight he will show Knicks fans whether Isaiah Hartenstein is truly an adequate replacement for Mitchell Robinson, who is out for the season at center. Hartenstein is coming off a 20-rebound night against Chicago, but going up against Embiid is a different animal than going against Andre Drummond.

Brunson’s assist totals over the past two games have been 14 and 13, as he has clearly taken a liking to having another rim-finisher on the team in Anunoby. It is no coincidence that his assists are way up since two perimeter-oriented players, R.J. Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, were dealt away to Toronto. Brunson has had a dozen or more assists only two other times in his Knicks career, so this is a bit of a risk. But at this price, it is a risk worth taking, especially as a hefty parlay builder.

The Pick: Jalen Brunson to have at least 12 assists (+525)

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Joel Embiid to double-double 

As mentioned above, Embiid has not had a game that was not a double-double since Nov. 9, so that makes almost two full months of getting double figures in at least two categories. Sometimes, you need to build a Same Game Parlay with a wager that is extremely likely, and that is the case here with the big fellow from Cameroon.

The Pick: Joel Embiid to double-double (-425)

Leg-3 SGP Pick: Donte DiVincenzo 5+ assists 

We expect New York coach Tom Thibodeau to have all of his starters log very heavy minutes. This is an ESPN game in which tons of Knicks fans will make the trip down the New Jersey Turnpike in their blue and orange sweatshirts and ski caps (it is very cold in New York and Philly), and DiVincenzo will be playing in the same city where he attended college at Villanova. He had five assists last game against Chicago in just 25 minutes, and the offense with Anunoby on board rewards ball movement and making the extra pass. The odds here are very enticing.

The Pick: Donte DiVincenzo to have at least five assists (+675)
