The NBA Play-In Tournament kicks off tonight with a matchup between the No. 7 seed Miami Heat and the No. 8 Atlanta Hawks. The Heat, who fell just one win short of the Brooklyn Nets for the Eastern Conference’ sixth seed, must now navigate the four-team tournament to earn their spot in a first-round, best-of-7 playoff series. Tonight’s winner is guaranteed to move on in the playoffs, so let's dive into the details and make some NBA same-game parlay predictions.

The Heat made a strong push in the final regular-season games, winning four of their last five and regaining some of their shooting form. The Heat scored at least 118 points in all four wins -- including two 129-point performances against the Dallas Mavericks and Philadelphia 76ers.

Atlanta is no stranger to high-scoring games -- cashing four overs and a push in the fifth through its last five games, which featured multiple outings with more than 130 points.

The two sides now face off in a critical matchup that will send its winner into the 16-team playoff field and the loser into a win-or-go-home game against either the Chicago Bulls or Toronto Raptors.

With so much on the line, let’s look at some NBA same-game parlay picks for tonight’s matchup between the Heat and Hawks in Miami.

Best NBA Play-In Tournament Same Game Parlay Picks Today for Hawks vs Heat: 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+550)

Trae Young Double-Double

Trae Young has had an interesting past few games. Now, even before the start of the postseason, the Hawks have publicly revealed that they’re exploring trade options involving their point guard.

In his past three outings, Trae has averaged 25.3 points but shot just 2-for-15 from 3-point range -- an uncharacteristic 13 percent. He heads into tonight’s game without his reliable 3-point stroke, but he is in fine form when it comes to assisting teammates. Trae has averaged 16 assists over those same three games, and his teammates are hitting the shots when he finds them.

If Trae struggles to hit his 3-point opportunities tonight, he will look to force inside and find his way to the free-throw line. The Heat need to be prepared for that, since Trae shot 18 free throws against Washington two games ago. If Miami can keep Young away from the foul line, I have the Heat keeping him relatively quiet and forcing him to find open teammates tonight.

Trae has five double-doubles in his last six games, including 20 assists against the Sixers in an impressive display running the point. I have him hitting another double-double tonight, even if it's not a big scoring night for him.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Trae Young double-double (-105)

Atlanta Hawks Points Total

In its last five games, Miami has allowed an average of less than 12 threes per game on 34 percent shooting, making the Heat the NBA’s seventh-best team in that category during the stretch. No team in the NBA has allowed fewer shots per game than the Heat during its last five. Miami limited opponents to an impressive 80 FGA allowed during its 4-1 stretch to end the regular season.

Miami has recently improved its defensive game by addressing issues that were causing Heat rotations to appear weak a few weeks ago. Although they still have areas to improve, compared to Atlanta, the Heat's defense appears stronger for this matchup. As a result, I’m backing Atlanta to be held to a score of 110 or fewer points.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Atlanta Hawks under 110.5 points (-105)

Jimmy Butler Points Total

The risk of losing tonight and falling into the play-in consolation game means the Miami Heat will repeatedly have to trust Jimmy Butler in big moments vs. Atlanta. In the Heat’s recent games, Butler has proven to be his team’s most reliable option in driving to the basket and earning trips to the foul line.

Butler averaged 28.7 points in his last three outings, with an average of eight points coming from the foul line. His midrange work should be effective against a lackluster Atlanta Hawks defense, and in critical situations Jimmy will have the basketball in his hands.

The Hawks are allowing over 24 free throws per game of late -- one of the highest totals in the NBA -- and they are conceding an average of more than 120 points. Butler will drive on the Hawks and force them to play good interior defense or find himself with easy buckets or cheap trips to the free-throw line. Either way, tonight could be a big scoring night for the Heat guard, so we’ll add him to our NBA same-game parlay with a 25-plus point performance.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: Jimmy Butler 25+ Points (-215)

Against the SpreadThe final selection for tonight’s NBA same-game parlay picks will be Miami covering the spread.

Miami won three of the four matchups between the two teams, with two wins by an eight-point margin. They had two blowout wins over the Hawks in last season's playoff series, and while they’ve been a poor performer against the spread this season, the Heat have turned it around in recent games.

Miami is 3-2 in its last five against the spread, but the Heat were just one point away from being 4-1. Unfortunately, they managed only a 13-point win over the Detroit Pistons against a 13.5 point spread.

Miami boasts the better defense and has suddenly found a little rhythm offensively, which should result in the Heat eventually pulling away from the Hawks tonight.

Leg-4 SGP Pick: Miami Heat -5.5 (-110)
