UFC 288 Fight Card: Schedule, Predictions, Odds & Best Bets

UFC 288 is scheduled to take place on May 6th at the Prudential Center located in New Jersey, USA. The highlight of the event will be a title defense fight for the UFC bantamweight championship.

Aljamain Sterling is set to defend his bantamweight title against Henry Cejudo in the main event of the upcoming UFC fights this weekend. Sterling has already defended his title twice, defeating former champion Petr Yan and TJ Dillashaw at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi back in October 2022.

The co-main event will feature welterweights Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns competing against each other. Both fighters are determined to climb the division rankings for a chance to challenge current welterweight champion, Leon Edwards.

In the women’s strawweight category, Jessica Andrade will attempt to make a comeback after a tough loss in February by facing Yan Xiaonan in a thrilling bout. Meanwhile, the men's UFC featherweight division will feature an intriguing fight between Charles Jourdain and Kron Gracie. Despite only having six professional fights to his name, Gracie is making his UFC return at the age of 34, entering the octagon for the first time since 2019.

Sterling vs Cejudo Prediction & Pick

Aljamain Sterling has successfully defended his bantamweight title twice since his controversial victory over Petr Yan, who was disqualified for an illegal knee, making Sterling the new champion.

Sterling's first rematch with Yan was intense, with Sterling controlling Yan on the ground for much of the first two rounds. However, Yan held on and took the fight to the fifth round, where Sterling emerged victorious by split decision.

In his second title defense, Sterling faced TJ Dillashaw at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi. Dillashaw dislocated his shoulder just 20 seconds into the fight, and Sterling controlled him on the ground for the rest of the round. Dillashaw's shoulder was popped back in between rounds, but it dislocated again in round two, leading to a victory for Sterling.

While Sterling has defended his title twice, he has yet to do so convincingly, and Henry Cejudo, who has a diverse skill set, could prove to be a challenging opponent. Cejudo, an Olympic wrestler, retired from the sport three years ago, with his last fight resulting in a knockout win over Dominick Cruz at UFC 249 in May 2020.

If Cejudo can withstand Sterling's early ground attacks and keep the fight on his feet, he could have an advantage as a striker. However, the question remains about Cejudo's physical ability and conditioning after such a long time away from the octagon.

In my opinion, Cejudo could surprise Sterling and claim a win by decision if he can avoid Sterling's ground game early on.

The Pick: Henry Cejudo by decision +200

Belal Muhammad vs Gilbert Burns Odds, Moneyline, Over/Under – UFC Fight Odds 5/6

Gilbert Burns vs Belal Muhammad Prediction & Pick

Belal Muhammad is set to take on Gilbert Burns in what promises to be an intriguing matchup. Muhammad's last fight against Sean Brady saw him deliver an impressive KO, which put him in contention for a matchup against Khamzat Chimaev. However, he was given the matchup against Burns, which he feels is taking away from what he has worked so hard for.

Gilbert Burns is coming off a dominant win against Jorge Masvidal just last month and seems to be improving with age. He is now up against one of the hottest names in the welterweight division in Muhammad, who has won his last eight fights in a row.

In his last fight, Muhammad showcased his ability to nullify his opponent's strengths, as he took down Sean Brady with ease. He has proven himself to be a well-rounded fighter, who can dominate his opponents regardless of their level of power or ground game.

While Burns has also been improving in the fight game, Muhammad's well-roundedness makes him a difficult opponent to break down. Burns has suffered two of his last three losses by KO/TKO against Dan Hooker and Kamaru Usman.

I believe Muhammad has what it takes to come out on top in this matchup and predict he will win by KO/TKO in what could be the fight of the night.

The Pick: Belal Muhammad by KO/TKO +450

Jessica Andrade vs Yan Xiaonan – Women’s Strawweight Main Card Event Fight Info:

Jessica Andrade vs Yan Xiaonan Odds, Moneyline, Over/Under – UFC Fight Odds 5/6

Moneyline: Jessica Andrade -175, Yan Xiaonan +140

Total Rounds:
-1.5 (1.5): Over 1.5 -275, Under 1.5 +200
-2.5 (2.5): Over 2.5 -150, Under 2.5 +110

Method of Victory:
Jessica Andrade KO, TKO, Submission or Disqualification +140
Jessica Andrade Decision or Technical Decision +200
Yan Xiaonan KO, TKO, Submission or Disqualification +700
Yan Xiaonan Decision or Technical Decision +240

Jessica Andrade vs Yan Xiaonan Prediction & Pick

In the women’s UFC fights, Jessica Andrade returns quickly after she accepted a last-minute fight back in February against an unknown fighter in Erin Blanchfield. Erin caused a major upset by submitting UFC veteran Andrade with a rear naked choke, catching her off guard with her speed and movement on the ground. Despite this setback, Andrade had previously won three straight fights, including a dominant performance against Lauren Murphy where she landed 231 strikes to secure a unanimous decision win.

Now, Andrade will face Yan Xiaonan, who started her UFC career with an impressive 6-0 record before suffering back-to-back losses against Carla Esparza and Marina Rodriguez. There are concerns that Xiaonan may struggle against some of the division's top talent after breezing through her initial opponents.

However, Xiaonan has an opportunity to prove herself against Andrade and make a statement in the division. Although Andrade is the favorite due to her power and striking ability, Xiaonan's durability and ability to go the distance should not be overlooked.

In the end, I believe Andrade will come out on top, likely by KO/TKO. She has a proven track record of finishing fights, with four of her last six wins coming in that manner. And with a disappointing loss earlier this year, Andrade will be motivated to make a statement and get back on track in this fight.

The Pick: Jessica Andrade by KO/TKO (+140)

Best UFC Parlay Picks for Saturday night Fight Card today: 3-leg Parlay

For our UFC Saturday night prediction, let's take a look at the UFC Card odds and combine our three picks into a parlay for the upcoming event this weekend.

Cejudo has a good chance of claiming the title belt from Aljamain Sterling in what will likely be a tough test for the current champion. Although Sterling has defended his belt twice, I don't believe he has shown enough convincing output to successfully fend off another challenger. Moreover, if Cejudo has maintained his fitness during his three-year hiatus, I believe his skillset makes him a strong contender to win the matchup and claim the belt.

Leg-1 Pick: Henry Cejudo by decision or technical decision (+200)

Next on my UFC Parlay is Muhammad by KO/TKO. It is expected Belal Muhammad will continue his impressive streak against Gilbert Burns. While this fight promises to be a thrilling one, Muhammad's recent performances speak for themselves, and he will likely be looking to finish this one in style to set up a potential showdown with Chimaev.

Leg-2 Pick: Belal Muhammad by KO/TKO (+450)

I predict that Jessica Andrade will win by KO/TKO against Yan Xiaonan. Andrade has the necessary experience and power to finish the fight before it goes to the judges, and I think she will do so to redeem her UFC legacy.

Leg-3 Pick: Jessica Andrade by KO/TKO (+140)
