Manchester United will host Fulham on Saturday, as the home team looks to continue building on its recent success. The last time United played Fulham, manager Erik ten Hag was under a lot of pressure to be more successful, but with a little patience, his team seems to have found its game in recent weeks.

Fulham, meanwhile, has only won one of its last five matches. One criticism of Fulham this season has been its poor results against the top Premier League teams. The 12th-place club is just 1-1-6 during the 2023-24 season against teams currently in the top six, with their lone win coming against Arsenal in the final game of the 2023 calendar year.

Let’s break down this weekend’s matchup with some free Premier League betting tips and picks for the game.

Manchester United heads into this home game with high hopes of continuing its excellent play of late. Recent results have drawn United closer to both fourth-place Aston Villa and fifth-place Tottenham in the Premier League standings going into this weekend.

The fight for a Champions League spot is going to come down to how well this team plays over its remaining 13 games. Since a range of only five points separates these three teams, Manchester United has to feel that its goal of finishing in the top five is more than achievable.

Manchester manager Erik ten Hag attributes a large amount of his team’s recent improvement to the return of holding midfielder Casemiro, who missed more than two months of action in the middle of the season. His role in the starting 11 is proving crucial, with both his leadership and experience shining through and allowing some of the team’s talented younger players to be more creative.

Kobbie Mainoo, who is only 18, nabbed his first Premier League goal in emphatic fashion with a 97th-minute winner over Wolves, and the teen-ager looks like one of the league’s brightest young stars. United fans are very excited about his future, and he’s certainly adding a little extra flair to the current roster.

With veteran experience and young talent both on display, Manchester United’s run of success might continue. Striker Rasmus Hojlund has now scored in six straight Premier League games, which makes the 21-year-old the youngest player ever to do that. He scored twice in his team’s win over Luton, giving United a strong early lead that Luton was unable to overcome.

As a group, manager ten Hag’s team appears more comfortable when it doesn’t have the ball, and its ability to counter-attack is clear. In each of its wins over Wolves, Aston Villa, and Luton, United allowed the opposition to have more of the possession time, while taking chances when opportunities arose. Set pieces are a major part of that, too, and they are something Fulham must be prepared to defend.

Fulham manager Marco Silva will be hoping to get his team back on track after last Saturday’s disappointing loss to Aston Villa. It was another game that Fulham let slip away despite having more than enough chances to find the back of the net against one of the league’s top four teams.

Sitting in 12th place right now, Fulham senses the looming danger that just a couple of negative results could pose. Only nine points separate Fulham from the No. 18 relegation spot that Luton currently holds in the standings. No team wants to find itself fighting to avoid relegation during the last few weeks of the season.

The London club has lost five of its last eight games, with only two wins and one draw. Fulham could really use a big victory here to help pull away from teams fighting for survival at the bottom of the standings.

The club held its own against United the first time these teams met this season, and that recent Manchester United vs. Fulham history will be fresh in the players’ minds. Indeed, Fulham lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at home on Nov. 4, when United’s Bruno Fernandes found the bottom corner in the match’s 90th minute.

Fulham then had a weak December, losing multiple games by multiple-goal margins, but it seems to have tightened up a little defensively in recent weeks. The visitors will need their best stuff against an extremely confident group of Manchester United players.

Let's take a look at the injuries and then get into our Premier League predictions, with three soccer betting picks for this game.

Manchester United vs. Fulham Lineups and Injuries

Fulham will be missing striker Raul Jimenez, who has scored five Premier League goals so far this season. He’ll be out for a couple more weeks after suffering an injury in early February.

The London team will also be missing Joao Palhinha in its midfield, which could prove critical against one of the league's biggest teams right now. Palhinha picked up his 10th yellow card of the season, which resulted in a suspension.

Manchester United will be without Luke Shaw for what could be the rest of the season after the experienced left-back had to leave the team’s recent match against Luton on Sunday. It’s a recurring injury, and one that leaves United short at Shaw’s position because Tyrell Malacia has also been sidelined due to injury.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also out for United, as is central defender Lisandro Martinez. Injuries are starting to have a serious impact on the team’s back four, and we’ll have to see how manager Erik ten Hag believes he can best cover for those absences with this weekend's lineup.

Manchester United vs. Fulham Prediction, Picks, and Betting Tips

Total Goals

I’ll kick off this Premier League same-game parlay with a look at the total-goals market.

Manchester United has been on a goal-scoring tear in recent weeks, finding the net 11 times in its last four Premier League matches. The team might not be as strong on the attack as others such as Arsenal or Manchester City, but it does have its share of scorers, and Rasmus Hojlund is as hot as it gets in front of the goal right now.

Factor in the injuries that United is facing on defense, and Fulham will have an opportunity to attack the fullbacks and create some chances of its own. United might be able to score, but it is also susceptible to conceding goals when there is a lapse in concentration at the back.

I’ll take the over here on 2.5 goals.

The Pick: Over 2.5 Goals (-182)

Rasmus Hojlund

Bet the hot hand, right? This is one of the most obvious picks, but still one of my favorite Premier League prop bets for this match. Young United striker Rasmus Hojlund has now scored seven times in his last six games, and a goal on Saturday against Fulham would make it seven straight.

Hojlund hadn’t scored a single goal this season until he began this streak against Aston Villa several weeks ago, and he has never looked back. He said that he “never doubted” himself during his slump, and he clearly needed some time to adapt to life in the Premier League.

There is nothing more dangerous than a striker in top-scoring form, and his positioning in the box of late has been superb.

The Pick: Rasmus Hojlund to score anytime (-106)

Both Teams to Score

In keeping with the over 2.5 goals narrative, I expect Manchester United will score a couple of goals in this match, while also giving up at least one.

Fulham is capable of scoring goals. Brazilian Rodrigo Muniz has tallied four times in his last three games, including two goals against Bournemouth in a 3-1 win. He’s a goal-poacher and someone who could easily tap one home if left uncovered in the box.

Let’s go with both teams to score to round out my free soccer picks today.

The Pick: Both Teams to Score - Yes (-154)
