The Messi masterclass continued in Inter Miami's second Leagues Cup game, marking the Argentinian icon's second impressive performance with his new club.

In his first encounter with an MLS team, Messi and his teammates faced Atlanta United in the tournament, providing them with a glimpse of what lay ahead. Miami made light work of it too, with a 4-0 performance and another top tier performance from Robert Taylor, who grabbed two goals.

Leo Messi has now managed three goals and an assist in just the two games he has played for his new side. As a result, Inter Miami have gone from a team who previously had little interest in their fixtures to a club that now attracts millions of soccer fans to watch their games.

Next up for David Beckham’s side is a matchup against Orlando City, who sit fifth in the MLS Eastern Conference and went through top in their group at the Leagues Cup tournament.

Let’s dive into the matchup and make some Leagues Cup picks and parlays ahead of Wednesday night’s game.

Inter Miami look a completely different team with the best soccer player in the world among their ranks. The new look starting 11 is enough to threaten anybody, and they head into this week’s matchup in the first knockout round of the Leagues Cup as the favorites to win.

For context, Inter Miami have scored just 22 goals in 22 games played so far in the MLS this season. Their average of one goal per game sees them firmly rooted to the bottom of the Eastern Conference, but that goal scoring form might just be turning a corner.

In the two games played in the Leagues Cup so far, Miami have scored six goals, including the most recent 4-0 burial of Atlanta United. Messi has three of those goals, while the other three belong to left midfielder Robert Taylor, who seems to be thoroughly enjoying life alongside Leo Messi.

Having enjoyed a strong year so far, Orlando City find themselves in a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 10 wins, scoring 34 goals in the process. Orlando benefit from having a deep and versatile roster which allows them to frequently rotate their front men and find goals from different sources. Duncan McGuire is the top scorer with eight, while Facundo Torres is close behind with seven of his own.

Argentinian Martin Ojeda is one of the best playmakers Orlando City has, and leads the team this season with five assists while picking up four goals to add to his contribution. Ojeda can be the creator going forward, but also puts himself in dangerous positions in the box and is more than capable of a neat finish.

Whilst Orlando City are efficient in the attacking sense, they have struggled at the back at times like Inter Miami have. Both teams have shown defensive vulnerabilities, often allowing multiple clear-cut chances for their opponents to score.

This matchup could therefore be another fun one filled with lots of action in the box. Inter Miami will play host again, in what is rapidly becoming the most sought-after ticket in the southern region of Florida. This time, it's a knockout game, adding even more excitement to the event. These are our favorite Leagues Cup picks for the game.

Inter Miami vs Orlando City Predictions and Pick

Josef Martinez - Anytime Goalscorer

Josef Martinez knows his way around MLS opposition. Not only that, but he holds a strong goalscoring record against Orlando City. In 11 appearances against the central Florida club, Martinez has scored eight goals.

He’s slowly finding his feet in a new look system and beginning to understand how to play alongside Messi in attack, which should result in opportunities in front of goal against Orlando this time around.

Martinez has had a few chances in the two games Messi has been in town for so far. He just needs to settle down in front of goal and stay patient. Messi is always capable of drawing defenders and setting up clean looks for his team mates, and Martinez could capitalize on that on Wednesday night.

The Pick: Josef Martinez to score anytime (+150)

Lionel Messi - Anytime Goalscorer

Leo Messi managed five shots on target in just over 110 minutes of soccer for Inter Miami so far. He is of course the nucleus of the team already, and seems to be having more fun than he ever did in France down in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

In the Atlanta game, Messi played 78 minutes, took four shots, and put three of those on target. Two were goals, and the only one that didn’t hit the target bounced off the post only for Messi to tap it in anyway.

In short, Messi is just that good. He will always pose a threat to the opposing goalkeeper. With all the eyes on him ready for the knockouts, Messi is bound to turn it up another level, so I’m confident in backing the legend himself to get on the score sheet again.

The Pick: Lionel Messi to score anytime (-125)

Inter Miami - Match Winner

It will be another sellout crowd at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday night. However, this time in the Leagues Cup there’s so much more on the line as the knockout round presents a win or go home scenario.

Inter Miami will have the advantage of the home crowd, and reinforcements this week as another of Messi’s former Barcelona team mates arrives to bolster the squad. Spanish left back Jordi Alba has been one of the most accomplished full backs in world soccer for several years, and now in the twilight of his career he heads to the South of Florida to team up with Messi and Busquets once again.

The squad is getting stronger, and those playing around Messi and co. are playing as well as they ever have been too. Robert Taylor’s career is taking a remarkable turn, and the likes of Martinez and Benjamin Cremaschi are putting in far improved performances.

This team is full of confidence and threatening the MLS already, and I’m picking them to advance in the Leagues Cup over Orlando City.

The Pick: Inter Miami to Win (-150)
