Napoli vs. Barcelona Prediction and Picks The first of my Champions League prop bets involves a Barcelona squad dealing with injuries as it prepares to go up against Napoli, an optimistic Italian club. Both teams are eager to advance to the next stage of the tournament, and in the coming days Barcelona will travel to Italy for this Round of 16 clash. Unfortunately, Barca will be missing several players on this trip. Forward Joao Felix, who is tied for the team’s Champions League goal-scoring lead, is out with an ankle injury, and Barcelona will also be without Ferran Torres, Gavi, and Alejandro Balde.

The last time these two clubs met in Champions League play was back in 2020, when Lionel Messi was still playing for Barcelona, and that matchup also happened to take place in the Round of 16. The Spanish powerhouse won the two-leg showdown 4-2 on aggregate after the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Napoli.

This time around, Barcelona will head east after winning their Champions League group, although the team has struggled when playing away from home. After winning its first three matches, including a closely fought 1-0 victory over Porto, Barcelona went on to drop its final two group-stage road games against opponents most people would have expected Barca to beat.

Barcelona was stunned by an impressive Shakhtar team in a match played at Volksparkstadion in Germany before crumbling at Antwerp in the final game of group play.

The Spanish team is still lacking something, which makes it look like a long shot to make a deep run in this year’s Champions League knockout rounds. Injuries and a lack of talented depth in the midfield have caused countless issues, with players such as Oriol Romeu representing a chink in the armor for manager Xavi’s team.

Barcelona looks vulnerable, and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has returned from the African Cup of Nations just in time for this game, which could be a dangerous road matchup for the favorites from Spain. They’re struggling in the Champions League, and Xavi is facing fiery criticism as he desperately looks for answers.

This is likely to be a tight, risk-averse contest, with neither team wanting to give up much in the first leg of its Round of 16 matchup. At the same time, Napoli will know it has an opportunity to beat a team that has shown weakness on the road.

That said, Napoli’s performance in Serie A this season has been subpar by the team’s own standards. It is currently sitting in ninth place and struggling to find consistency. Napoli won three of its six group-stage games in the Champions League -- losing twice to Real Madrid and tying one of their two matches against Germany’s Union Berlin.

Napoli manager Walter Mazzari’s team is a scoring threat, though, and I have almost no doubt it will find the net at least once against Barcelona. This team scored 10 goals in the group stage, including four against Madrid. Napoli can be a real threat from set pieces, something Barca’s defense will need to contain.

Like Barcelona, the home team is also vulnerable at the back -- having allowed players such as Madrid’s Jude Bellingham to run through them too freely in recent matches. Given Barcelona’s style and build-up play, it should be able to create chances of its own, so I’ll take both teams to score in this one to kick off my Champions League predictions.

The Pick: Barcelona-Napoli: Both Teams to Score (-167)

FC Porto vs. Arsenal Odds and Spread – Champions League Betting Lines Feb. 21

3-way handicap: Porto +333 | Draw +260 | Arsenal -134
Draw No Bet: Porto +230 | Arsenal -350
Over/Under Goals: Over 2.5 (-110) | Under 2.5 (-125)
Double Chance:  Porto or Tie +105 | Tie or Arsenal -500 | Porto or Arsenal -350
Both teams to score: Yes -118, No -110
1st Goal: Porto +175 | No Goal +900 | Arsenal -175

FC Porto vs. Arsenal Prediction and Pick

Arsenal has been playing very well over the past few weeks in the English Premier League, thumping West Ham and Crystal Palace with 11 goals across the two games, and not conceding any in that span. This team has been a hot pick in the soccer betting world of late, but how will it match up against Porto when the two meet in the Champions League Round of 16 on Feb. 21?

The most noteworthy part of the Porto vs. Arsenal injury report is the likely absence of Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus. The London club expects to be without Jesus, who has already missed the last two games with a knee injury. Jesus’ absence wasn’t an issue in Arsenal’s most recent match against West Ham, however, since it scored six times on two goals by forward Bakayo Saka and single tallies by center-backs Gabriel and William Saliba, as well as forward Leandro Trossard and midfielder Declan Rice.

Arsenal's scoring prowess was also apparent in the Champions League group stage, where the team averaged just under three goals per game and cruised through in first place. It scored four times against PSV in the opening weekend and then buried RC Lens 6-0 at home after losing to that team in France.

Manager Mikel Arteta’s men are playing some extremely fluid soccer now, and I have to wonder whether Porto will be able to contain them. With Jesus sidelined, I expect Arsenal to field a potential front three of Saka, Trossard, and Gabriel Martinelli, unless striker Eddie Nketiah gets the start over one of those three.

As an attacking unit, those players are tough to slow down, and Porto already allowed three goals in the final game of group-stage play -- a 5-3 thriller against Shakhtar.

The team from Portugal lost both of its games against Barcelona in the group, but it turned in a couple of impressive performances against its two other opponents. Porto’s attack runs through striker Mehdi Taremi, who does a great job setting up a group of teammates that includes Brazil’s Evanilson, who scored a hat trick against Antwerp in the group stage.

Porto plays some really efficient soccer at times, and its Champions League showing has far outperformed its domestic efforts this season. This team is looking to make a run in the Champions League, so we could see fireworks during the game in Portugal.

Arsenal currently leads its all-time series against Porto 3-2 with one draw. The clubs last met during the 2009-10 event’s Round of 16, and Arsenal won 6-2 on aggregate.

This time around, I can see Saka and Co. scoring a couple of goals on the road and coming away with an important win to take back to Emirates Stadium.

The Pick: Arsenal to win and both teams to score (+275)

PSV Eindhoven vs. Borussia Dortmund Odds and Spread – Champions League Betting Lines Feb. 20

3-way handicap: PSV +115 | Draw +260 | Dortmund +200
Draw No Bet: PSV -167 | Dortmund +120
Over/Under Goals: Over 2.5 (-163) | Under 2.5 (+120)
Double Chance: PSV or Tie -267 | Tie or Dortmund -150 | PSV or Dortmund -334
Both teams to score: Yes -182, No +140
1st Goal: PSV -130 | No Goal +1100 | Dortmund +120

PSV vs. Dortmund Prediction and Pick

The final matchup in my Champions League betting parlay for next week’s Round of 16 Leg 1 games is a has Borussia Dortmund visiting PSV Eindhoven at Philips Stadion.

Dortmund finished first in Group F, beating out PSG, while PSV emerged from Group B by finishing in second place behind Arsenal.

After a tough 4-0 loss to Arsenal in its Group B opener, PSV tightened up and refused to lose the rest of the way. The Eindhoven club beat Sevilla and RC Lens before tying its three remaining matches, including a 1-1 draw in the rematch with Arsenal.

PSV has been finding the net at will in the Eredivisie, having outscored opponents 68-10 in club competition. The team’s plus-58 goal differential puts it a full 20 goals ahead of the next closest team in the league, but that scoring form has not translated to the Champions League.

Through six group-stage matches, PSV has a total of only eight goals -- three of which came in its win over Sevilla. That could prove to be a factor in this match against Dortmund, which has only given up four goals in the tournament so far.

Striker Luuk De Jong leads the way for PSV with 18 Eredivisie goals, and he is also his team’s top scorer with two goals in this year’s Champions League. The Dutch squad will need him to show up in full force against a stubborn Dortmund team.

That said, Dortmund hasn’t scored all that many times in this tournament either. The German club’s seven goals to date were enough to win their group, but that was largely because Dortmund only conceded four.

Like many teams, Dortmund had difficulty coping with PSG's fast-paced attack, spearheaded by Kylian Mbappe. By contrast, PSV relies on a more deliberate approach -- centered on De Jong -- with less emphasis on speed in its build-up play.

I expect to see a defensive showdown here between two teams vying for a spot in the quarterfinals. The emphasis will be on keeping it close in advance of Leg 2 back in Dortmund.

Neither the PSV nor Dortmund players will be willing to let up defensively, and both will likely struggle to create goal-scoring opportunities. Both teams have played in some low-scoring nail-biter games, and this one might not be any different. I’ll take the under on 2.5 goals here for the last of my three Champions League best bets.

The Pick: Under 2.5 Goals Scored (+120)
