Best NHL Player-Prop Bets on December 6thSidney Crosby On Wednesday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning will face each other for the second time this season and for the second time in a span of six days. Last Thursday’s meeting between these teams provided some fireworks for Pittsburgh fans when the Penguins, who trailed 2-0 in the second period, stormed back to win 4-2. That game was also played in Tampa, and this time around, the Lightning will look to do a better job defending their home ice. Only eight NHL teams are in action on Wednesday, which gives the biggest stars a chance to shine, and that’s exactly what I expect Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby to do. Crosby had one goal and five shots in last week’s win at Tampa. Andrei Vasilevskiy, who has returned to health and is back in goal for the Lightning, took the loss last week, so the Penguins know that goals will come at a premium on Wednesday. Putting shots on net won’t be an issue for the Pens. The Lightning allow the NHL’s 13th-most shots this season, so Pittsburgh should have no problem pressuring Vasilevskiy. Crosby had five shots on goal in the game last Thursday, and I expect nothing less than that in this rematch.

The Pick: Sidney Crosby over 3.5 shots on goal (-105)
Tyler Seguin The 2023-24 Dallas Stars roster is loaded with talent from top to bottom, and this team will certainly be a Stanley Cup contender in the spring. Dallas has created tough matchups for all of its opponents. However, the team’s talent surplus also forces high-end players such as center Tyler Seguin to play lesser roles at times. Seguin’s Dallas team will be in Florida on Wednesday night to face the gritty Panthers, who allow the league’s third-fewest shots on goal per game this season. Seguin, a key player in the Stars’ offense, has eight goals and nine assists this season, but he tends to record relatively few shots in relation to those numbers. Combine that with the Panthers’ gritty defense, and I’ll take the under on Seguin on Wednesday.

The Pick: Tyler Seguin under 2.5 shots on goal (-182)
Jack Eichel The Vegas Golden Knights suffered an unfortunate 2-1 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues at home on Monday night. That was the first game of a home-and-home series, and the momentum will be in the Blues’ favor on Wednesday when they face Vegas again in front of their own fans. It won’t be so easy for the Blues, who will be up against a hungry Golden Knights team seeking revenge. While the reigning Stanley Cup champions are loaded with talent, center Jack Eichel is on a different level. Eichel can take over a game at any moment, which he demonstrated on Monday night by scoring his team’s lone goal while recording seven shots. Even when Vegas’ offense sputters, the dominant Eichel still manages to find his spots, as he was the one who forced OT on Monday. The Blues allow the NHL’s seventh-most shots on goal this season, and Eichel will only add to that statistic because no one on St. Louis can slow him down. He has exceeded his current prop line for shots in five of his last seven games. Since Wednesday night is a revenge game for Vegas, I expect to see a lot from Eichel in this one.

The Pick: Jack Eichel over 3.5 shots on goal (-125)
Sebastian Aho After dealing with injuries for the early part of this season, the Carolina Panthers are nearly back at full strength and looking like their dominant selves again. Center Sebastian Aho has been a true leader for this team in terms of his scoring production. On Wednesday, Carolina faces the Edmonton Oilers, who have numerous scoring weapons of their own. Given the competition, Aho will have to remain aggressive in the offensive zone for all three periods if he wants to lead his team to victory. Edmonton is talented defensively, too, and only five NHL teams give up fewer shots per game than the Oilers. It could be a challenge for Aho to get shots through to the net Wednesday night, but he has been great at rising to challenges like this one -- having exceeded his current prop total in five of his last six games.

The Pick: Sebastian Aho over 2.5 shots on goal (-143)
