NHL Player Prop Bets Today: Thursday, Oct. 19 2023

Best Canucks vs Tampa Bay Lighting Player Prop Bets

Brock Boeser

The Tampa Bay Lighting had to start their season without injured goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, so it should come as no surprise that the Bolts have allowed both the NHL’s second-most shots and goals to opposing skaters so far this season. Vancouver therefore has a very favorable matchup on Thursday night in Tampa, and the Canucks will look to take advantage of it. One of the players who could really capitalize in this game is Brock Boeser. Boeser currently leads all Canucks skaters with four goals on the season. It is worth noting that he scored all four of those goals in the Canucks’ opening game, but it should also be worth noting that any skater who can score four in one night should be a big factor against a defense that currently ranks among the worst in hockey.

The Pick: Brock Boeser over 2.5 shots on goal (-110)

Best Predators vs Rangers Player Prop Bets

Artemi Panarin

Winger Artemi Panarin has been very aggressive to start this season for the New York Rangers and leads all Blueshirts skaters in shots on goal. Last season, Panarin led the Rangers with 92 points, and he is off to a good start -- currently second on the team in scoring this season. The Rangers draw a favorable matchup at home Thursday night against a Nashville Predators team that allows opponents nearly 30 shots on goal per game. Goaltender Juuse Saros will be in net for the Predators in this one. Even though Nashville is not doing a great job defensively, Saros is one of hockey’s finest between the pipes. So, give me Panarin to hit the over for his shots on goal, because he has already exceeded this total in each of his team’s first three games.

The Pick: Artemi Panarin over 2.5 shots on goal (-143)

Best Hurricanes vs Kraken Player Prop Bets

Seth Jarvis

The penalty minutes have been piling up for the Carolina Hurricanes this season, and it has certainly hurt them so far. It’s one area they will need to address very soon. While they might be a little too aggressive in the penalty department, their aggressiveness on offense has been impressive. Carolina ranks fifth in the NHL with an average of 34.5 shots on goal per game this season. One of the Hurricanes’ aggressive skaters has been center Seth Jarvis, whose two goals at San Jose helped save his team from what would have been an embarrassing upset on Tuesday night. Jarvis has had three or more shots on goal in all but one game this season. Facing a Seattle Kraken team that allows the sixth-most shot attempts in the league means the floodgates should open up for Carolina on Thursday night.

The Pick: Seth Jarvis over 2.5 shots on goal (-110)

Best Bruins vs Sharks Player Prop Bets

David Pastrnak

Bruins winger David Pastrnak has been -- and continues to be -- the top skater in Boston, particularly now that both David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron have retired. There is now more pressure than ever in Boston for Pastrnak to lead the way. So far, he has lived up to the expectations by scoring three goals on 10 shots through his first two games. As a result, the Bruins are undefeated and will look to continue that winning streak on Thursday night at San Jose. So far this season, the Sharks have been allowing a league-worst 42 shots on goal per game, which presents Pastrnak with a very favorable matchup. Look for Pastrnak to continue his dominance in the “Shark Tank.”

The Pick: David Pastrnak anytime goal scorer (-106)
