Best NHL Player-Prop Bets to consider for Thursday, March 7

Connor McDavid Center Connor McDavid is the best skater in hockey and it’s not even a question. While teammate Evander Kane made the comparisons to LeBron James and while I’m not going to go there, McDavid’s talent is truly unmatched. The Edmonton Oilers will take on a Columbus Blue Jackets team that is one of the bottom feeders in the NHL this season, and they will have a tall task on their hands Thursday night with this Oilers team. Columbus allows the second most shots on goal to opposing skaters this season and McDavid is one of the more aggressive skaters in hockey, so this should get interesting. McDavid has exceeded his current prop total in three out of his last five games and will look to do it again against Columbus.

Alex Ovechkin The future hall of fame skater Alex Ovechkin has started to heat up this season as he had a recent stretch where he scored eight goals in eight games. While he’s cooled down a bit since then, I like Ovechkin to find the back of the net Thursday night against a Pittsburgh Penguins team that has done a great job defensively this season. While the Penguins pose a tough test, Ovechkin has seen it all throughout his stellar career, give me Ovechkin to score a goal on Thursday night.

Andrei Vasilevsky Goaltender Andrei Vasilevsky has been one of the faces of this Tampa Bay Lightning squad for quite some time now and has held it down for the Lightning since returning from injury this season. Tampa will host a tough Calgary Flames team on Thursday, who won five straight before dropping their last game. I expect the Flames to be aggressive in this one like they are every night, and while Vasilevsky has been stout in goal this season, the Lightning’s defense as a whole has struggled at times, allowing opposing skaters to tee off on Vasilevsky. Which is why I’ll be targeting Vasilevsky’s total saves.

Owen Tippett The Philadelphia Flyers have certainly surprised a lot of people this season as they’ve officially turned a corner and look like they have something brewing. One of the bright spots of their team has been winger Owen Tippett. Tippett is currently second on the team in goals but has been their most aggressive skater as he has the most shots on goal of any Flyers skater this season. In a game that will pose a lot of tests for Philadelphia, look for Tippett to try and help his team pass them.
