Best NHL Player Prop Bets Today - December 22, 2023
Patrick Kane Future Hall of Famer Patrick Kane has been a great NHL player for many years, and his addition to the Detroit Red Wings is a huge boost for that team. Through his first eight games, Kane has already scored two goals and six points. His Red Wings will be facing a tough test on Friday night against visiting Philadelphia because the Flyers have certainly turned a corner this season. Philly’s defense has led the way, and goaltender Carter Hart has been amazing in net. Overall, the Flyers have been very impressive in allowing the NHL’s fifth-fewest shots on goal per game. Kane has come out of the gate hot since his arrival in Detroit, but he will hit a roadblock on Friday night against these defensive-minded Flyers.

The Pick: Patrick Kane under 2.5 shots on goal (-105)
Connor McDavid Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid is the clear leader of his team and its high-powered offense. The Oilers will be at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Friday night to face a tough Rangers team that allows the NHL’s eighth-fewest goals per game and 13th-fewest shots on goal per game this season. However, even when he goes up against some of the NHL’s best defensive teams, McDavid always seems to have success. Over his past five games, McDavid has exceeded his current shots-on-goal prop total twice. Since the Rangers pose a tough test defensively, McDavid will be forced to become more aggressive in the offensive zone, which will increase his scoring opportunities.

The Pick: Connor McDavid over 3.5 shots on goal (-110)
Brad Marchand The Boston Bruins will be in Canada on Friday to face a Winnipeg Jets team that is very good in its own zone and doesn’t give up many scoring chances. The Jets allow the NHL’s fourth-fewest goals per game and the sixth-fewest shots on goal per game this season. While Bruins winger Brad Marchand remains a crucial piece of his team, at age 35 he is no longer a point-per-game NHL player despite having maintained that average for six straight seasons from 2016-17 to 2021-22. Instead, the main driver of offense for Boston is Marchand’s linemate David Pastrnak. Marchand has exceeded his current shots-on-goal prop total in two of his last five games, but facing a Jets team that prides itself on defense will not help his case on Friday.

The Pick: Brad Marchand under 2.5 shots on goal (-105)
Nick Foligno Winger Nick Foligno is one of the savvy veterans that the Chicago Blackhawks brought in to help mentor rookie sensation Connor Bedard this season. We often target Bedard for our player-prop bets, but for this particular home game, we’re going to go with the more experienced player. On Friday, Chicago gets a visit from the Montreal Canadiens, who are bringing one of the NHL’s worst defenses into the Windy City –- a defense that allows the league’s fourth-most shots on goal per game. Foligno’s current shots-on-goal prop total is awfully low, given how poorly this Canadiens defense has been, and the 36-year-old has exceeded this number in five of his last six games.

The Pick: Nick Foligno over 1.5 shots on goal (-200)
