We have made it through the 2023-24 NHL season’s All-Star break and reached the time of year when things really start heating up. Here, in the season’s second half, standings points become absolutely crucial. We have a small slate of only three NHL games set for Wednesday night, but these matchups should offer some great hockey because they involve several playoff contenders.

Best NHL Parlay Picks - Wednesday, Feb. 7: 3-Leg Parlay Picks (+373) and Bonus PickTampa Bay Lightning vs. New York Rangers Prediction and Pick

In their first game back from the All-Star break, the New York Rangers pulled out a thrilling 2-1 OT victory over the Colorado Avalanche at Madison Square Garden on Monday. Goaltender Jonathan Quick was amazing in that game, making 32 saves as a virtual brick wall in net. However, the Rangers’ offense was stagnant again. New York has struggled to score goals on a regular basis this season. The Rangers’ Wednesday night opponent, the Tampa Bay Lightning, is not scoring-challenged at all.  Tampa ranks fifth in the NHL for goals per game and will look to put pressure on Quick in the same way Colorado did on Monday night. This will be Tampa’s first game since the All-Star break, so the Lightning should come in fully rested but perhaps a bit rusty. While the Lightning defense has been an issue for Tampa Bay at times this season, goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy has been great -- just as he has been throughout his All-Star career. This is a game that should see Tampa shaking off some rust and the Rangers looking to find their offense. Add in the fact that two great goalies are in the nets, and we’re going to go with the under here for our first leg of this parlay.

Leg-1 Parlay Pick: Under 6.5 (-115)
Dallas Stars vs. Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction and Pick

The Dallas Stars’ focus entering the 2023-24 NHL season was on closing out games in regulation time. That’s because they suffered an inordinate amount of overtime losses last season – enough to prevent them from winning the Western Conference. The Stars have done a good job in that area this season, and heading into the All-Star break, they had only gone to OT six times. Dallas’ opponent on Wednesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs, fared very well through the first half of the season and will look to finish the second half even stronger as they continue to pursue their first Stanley Cup since 1967. This will be the second time this season that these teams have faced each other after Toronto won the initial meeting 4-1. Goaltender Scott Wedgewood played in that game for Dallas, and he will be the starter again on Wednesday. Unfortunately, as a result, I am truly scared for the Stars here. Wedgewood enters this game with a solid 13-4-4 record, but his save percentage is just below .900. In truth, he has those numbers only because he’s been protected by the teammates in front of him. He is not the sort of goaltender who can win a game on his own, particularly against a team with Toronto’s weapons. The Leafs won handily in their first matchup at Dallas, and I expect a similar result for them at home on Wednesday.

Leg-2 Parlay Pick: Toronto Maple Leafs ML (-140)

Minnesota Wild vs. Chicago Blackhawks Prediction and Pick

Both the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks had quite disappointing first halves of the 2023-24 NHL season, and both enter their Wednesday night matchup with records below .500. The Blackhawks have an excuse for their struggles because rookie sensation Connor Bedard has been out for the past month with a jaw injury. The Wild, on the other hand, really have no excuse other than declaring this to be a rebuilding season. Bedard recently returned to practice for Chicago, but he’s still not expected to play on Wednesday night. That’s good news for Minnesota, because if Bedard were in their lineup, I sense that the Blackhawks could pull off an upset in this game. These teams faced each other back in December, and Minnesota won that game 4-1. I expect a similar result in this meeting. The Blackhawks are certainly on the rise with Bedard leading the way into the future, but Chicago is still a few players away from contending for the playoffs. Minnesota, meanwhile, is starting to look like it might be a new NHL bottom-feeder in a season or two, but the Wild aren’t there just yet and should take care of business Wednesday night.

Leg-3 Parlay Pick: Minnesota Wild ML (-210)
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New York Rangers Prediction and Pick

It’s another Wednesday night with only three games, and we like to make four predictions each week, so here we are with our bonus pick. Let’s go back to the Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New York Rangers matchup, where I expect the Rangers to defend their home ice and get a second straight win at Madison Square Garden. Veteran goaltender Jonathan Quick has been amazing this season since coming over from Los Angeles and was clearly a crucial addition in New York. If this Rangers offense can get going and remain consistent for the balance of the season, then this team will certainly be in contention to win the Stanley Cup. Colorado was a tough test for the Rangers on Monday night, and Tampa Bay is another one, but with Quick in goal this is a test New York can pass.

Bonus Pick: New York Rangers ML (-135)
