Best NFL Bets Week 1: Odds, Picks and Predictions

Titans vs Saints Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NFL Betting Lines Week 1 Moneyline: Tennessee Titans (+150), New Orleans Saints (-188)
Spread: Tennessee Titans +3.5, New Orleans Saints -3.5
Total: Over/Under 41.5 points

Titans vs Saints Prediction and Pick After starting last season with a 7-3 record, the Tennessee Titans went on to lose their final seven games and miss the playoffs. It was a disappointing second half of the season for the Titans, who were injury-riddled. They were also undisciplined as the NFL’s most penalized team with 115 penalties. By contrast, the New Orleans Saints started to figure things out toward the end of their 2022 season and narrowly missed the playoffs after winning three of their last four games.

The Saints’ passing attack should improve this season because New Orleans brought in Derek Carr, who should be an upgrade at quarterback. Meanwhile, the Titans’ secondary appears to be their weak link. Tennessee allowed 274.8 passing yards per game last season -- the most given up by any NFL team. However, the Titans managed to contain Carr when they faced his former Las Vegas team in Week 3. While Carr did pass for just over 300 yards in that matchup, those Raiders had a stronger overall passing attack than what the Saints will roll out on Sunday.

The Titans, who return most of their defensive starters, will force Carr and the Saints to be one-dimensional, since Tennessee allowed opponents a league-low 76.9 rushing yards per game last season. Look for the Titans’ improving offense -- which added All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins during the offseason -- to give the Saints problems through the air and on the ground. Tennessee running back Derrick Henry, who ran for 1,538 yards last season, will be going up against a Saints defense that allowed 130.5 rushing yards per game in 2022.

The Pick: Tennessee Titans ML (+150)

Jaguars vs Colts Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NFL Betting Lines Week 1 Moneyline: Jacksonville Jaguars (-225), Indianapolis Colts (+190)
Spread: Jacksonville Jaguars -5, Indianapolis Colts +5
Total: Over/Under 44.5 points
Jaguars vs Colts Prediction and Pick Jacksonville had the NFL’s 10th-best passing attack last season -- averaging 232.9 yards per game -- and it now has wide receiver Calvin Ridley back from his suspension. The Jaguars will face an Indianapolis Colts defense and secondary that lost All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore, starting safety Rodney McLeod, and cornerback Isaiah Rodgers. The depleted Indianapolis secondary returns three players who played more than 700 snaps but had coverage grades under 57.4, according to Pro Football Focus.

Look for the Jags to control this game and have several possessions. Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson is sure to make mistakes and have several three-and-outs in his first game as an NFL starter. With added possessions and Ridley now part of this Jaguars offense, expect a big game out of Jacksonville QB Trevor Lawrence and Co.

The Pick:
Jacksonville Jaguars Total Points over 26.5 (+110)

Cowboys vs Giants Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NFL Betting Lines Week 1 Moneyline: Dallas Cowboys (-167), New York Giants (+137)
Spread: Dallas Cowboys -3.5, New York Giants +3.5
Total: Over/Under 46.5 points

Cowboys vs Giants Prediction and PickWith four consecutive wins, the Dallas Cowboys have lately been the superior team in their long-running rivalry with the New York Giants. The Giants have not beaten Dallas since a Jan. 3, 2021, home game, which they won 23-19. Before that, you have to go back to Dec. 11, 2016, to find a Giants victory –- a game New York won 10-7 at home.

The Cowboys will look to continue that dominance on Sunday night when they visit MetLife Stadium with Super Bowl expectations for the upcoming season.

Dallas linebacker Micah Parsons’ improvement over the offseason is scary. His ability to wreck an entire game by himself makes him a frontrunner for this year’s NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. The Cowboys have also added key players in wide receiver Brandin Cooks and All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore. On top of that, Dallas drafted University of Michigan star defensive tackle Mazi Smith with a 2023 first-round pick.

Dan Quinn is back running the Dallas defense, and this Cowboys team is poised for another great season. Given how important winning the NFC East will be this season, look for the Cowboys to come out all gas and no brakes on Sunday night. A Giants beatdown is on tap. The Cowboys have won by seven or more points in each of their last four games against the Giants.

The Pick: Dallas Cowboys -3.5 (+100)
