Here are the four best NFL betting picks for the New York Giants vs Washington Football Team on Thursday Night Football.

Washington (-3) -115

Thursday Night Football games mean a short turnaround for both teams, with little time for rest and game planning. For this reason, the home team has often been at an advantage. That advantage is even more drastic in Week 2.

Washington’s starting quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick, is out injured, so Taylor Heinicke will get the start, and he has looked good running this team over their past two games dating back to last season.

I’m not worried about Heinicke being ready, I’m worried about the Giants’ ability to game plan for him on such short notice. New York looked bad in Week 1.

With little time to game plan, the best unit in the game has the advantage, and that is the Washington defense.

Antonio Gibson rushing + receiving yards: Over 89.5 -115

Antonio Gibson had the sixth-most usage of any skill position player in Week 1, seeing 25 touches. It resulted in 108 total yards against a tough Los Angeles Chargers defense. The Giants’ defense is worse than LA’s, and Gibson will continue to see a large workload.

He averaged five yards per touch over his two games against the Giants last season. He would need 19 touches for this over to hit, which he should get, given the little amount of time to develop another offensive game plan.

Anytime touchdown: Logan Thomas +180

It’s clear Logan Thomas is the red zone receiving option for Washington. He’s a massive, athletic tight end who has gotten better every season in the league. With a lack of big-bodied weapons for Washington in the red zone, he’s an easy choice.

Washington threw one pass in the red zone last week, and it was a touchdown to Thomas. He saw about 32 per cent of the team’s red zone targets last season, so expect to see him targeted when Washington gets in close on Thursday.

Second half team total: Giants under 9.5 -120

This may be another low-scoring game for the Giants, as their offense needs to run through Saquon Barkley but he doesn’t yet seem fully healthy. On top of that, the offensive line is no good. The only second-half score for the Giants last week was a meaningless touchdown in the final seconds of the game.

Daniel Jones and the Giants struggled during the second half of games against Washington last season, scoring a combined total of 10 points. Washington has a tough defense, and they will control this game, especially late.
