Starting off the season in a contract dispute with one of the best running backs in the NFL doesn’t seem like the best way to kick off the career of your new head coach and new first round drafted quarterback, but that’s exactly what owner Jim Irsay has managed to do.

With the hiring of Eagles Super Bowl offensive coordinator Shane Steichen and the drafting of QB Anthony Richardson out of Florida with the 4th pick in the draft, you’d think that expectations would be high in Indianapolis. But instead, Jonathan Taylor starts the year on the PUP list and the subject of trade rumors.  A once-promising season suddenly looks iffy, at best.

With Jacksonville on the rise and Tennessee always tough, the Colts will be hard-pressed to finish in the top half of the division.  At least they have the rebuilding Texans around (but that might not even be a so easy this year).
