Eagles vs Colts Preview

The Philadelphia Eagles' undefeated streak finally came to an end on Monday night and there was definitely some controversy involved. A facemask penalty on tight end Dallas Godert that would’ve put the Eagles in scoring position and likely would’ve resulted in them winning the game wasn’t called and the Eagles would go onto eventually lose to the Commanders.

Though Eagles center Jason Kelce wasn’t making excuses when he was asked about the missed penalty. “It’s a loser’s mentality to put it on somebody else,” Kelce said on his podcast, “it really bothers me when people put it on officials.”

“It’s very apparent when an official doesn’t make the correct call or misses something, right?” Kelce noted. “Officials ain’t going to be perfect. They ain’t going to make every call. And the reality is, you gotta go out there and play the game that’s called.”

The Indianapolis Colts will now host a heavily motivated Eagles team that’s looking to bounce back from their Monday night loss  at Lucas Oil Stadium. However, the Colts will look to counter that motivation with some of their own on Sunday as interim head coach Jeff Saturday returns to Lucas Oil Stadium where he played 13 seasons.

Eagles vs Colts Predictions & Sunday Picks Week 11

The Philadelphia Eagles will be a different team when they travel to Indianapolis on Sunday as they’ll be playing without Goedert, who will be sidelined with a shoulder injury for a few weeks. The tight end has played 80 per cent or more of the snaps outside of Week 3, where they rolled over the Commanders, will be a big void to fill for this Eagles offense. Third-year tight end Jack Stoll will see an uptick in snap counts on Sunday but filling Goedert’s shoes will be the real question. Outside of wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, Goedert was a key piece of this Eagles offense as he's third in targets on the year behind Brown and Smith but very crucial in the red zone as only Brown was targeted more.

As for the Eagles defense, they’ve had some key injuries and lack of production as of late, hence the recent signings of Ndamukong Suh and Linval Joseph. While their secondary led by cornerback Darius Slay still remains their strong suit, their run defense has been their weakness. Factor that in with the increased production out of the Colts offensive line and the return of running back Jonathan Taylor could make this game on Sunday very interesting. .

The Pick: Indianapolis Colts +7 (-115)

Don’t get caught up in the Eagles allowing 32 points to the Commanders on Monday night as the majority of that scoring came from the Eagles own mistakes, but this Colts offense is revamped and re-motivated under interim head coach Jeff Saturday. If their offensive line plays well, they’ll play well too. Quarterback Matt Ryan is a shell of himself and I expect the Colts to lean on the run in this one.

As for the Eagles, they’ll have a different offense without Goedert, but they’ll still look to attack a Colts defense that has played pretty well this season - they’re fourth in the NFL in yards allowed with 307 per game. Outside of the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3, the Colts haven’t faced an offense of the Eagles caliber.

The Eagles will find a way to put up points in this one as they’ll be heavily motivated off of their Monday night loss. The Colts, meanwhile, will attack this run-down Eagles run defense with Jonathan Taylor.

The Pick: Over 45.5 (-110)

Best Prop Bets for Eagles vs. Colts – Week 11

Matt Ryan

I really expect the Colts to lean on the run in this one, but they’ll have to pass at some point in this game and, when they do, Matt Ryan will make mistakes. Ryan has had three games this season where he’s thrown two or more interceptions, including a three-interception performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2. Take the over on this prop in this one as I think Darius Slay gets his hands on a Matt Ryan football.

The Pick: Matt Ryan over 0.5 interceptions (-145)
Jonathan Taylor

The Las Vegas Raiders couldn’t stop me if I was out there and I’m well aware of that as I’m writing this. So yes, I take Taylor’s 147 yard rushing performance with a grain of salt, but I do like it from the positive standpoint as it’s something that this team can build on. They got their first win since Week 6 and did so with interim head coach Jeff Saturday. The offensive line finally played up to expectations of the highest paid unit in the NFL but, again, it was the Las Vegas Raiders.

Taylor and this offensive line will get a true test on Sunday against a stout Eagles defense that is working through some injuries. Taylor saw his second-highest carry amount this past Sunday and I think he’ll get the bulk of the work again. Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. squeaked out 86 yards rushing against the Eagles on Monday night off 26 carries. If Taylor gets 20-plus carries I think he’ll be able to get the over on his prop as well.

The Pick: Jonathan Taylor over 85.5 rushing yards (-110)
