Sunday Night Football in Week 5 is set to be quite a game. The Cincinnati Bengals travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens in the two sides' first meeting of the season in the AFC North.

Both the Bengals and the Ravens head into the game 2-2, with the Bengals picking up some steam in their last couple of outings following a rocky 0-2 start to the 2022 campaign. The Ravens, on the other hand, fell short to the Buffalo Bills in a bitterly disappointing end last week.

Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Sunday Night Football. You’d be crazy to miss it.

Bengals vs Ravens Odds, Spread, Over/Under - NFL Betting Lines Week 5

Moneyline: Bengals +145, Ravens -170

Spread: Bengals -1.5, Ravens +1.5

Total: Over/Under 48.5 points

Last Sunday's outing against the Buffalo Bills ended in disastrous fashion for the Ravens. John Harbaugh decided to go for it on fourth down with the game tied late in the fourth quarter, which resulted in an incompletion and an easy field goal win for Buffalo. Harbaugh said after the game that he trusts his players implicitly, and felt the same way about the decision as he did when he made it during the game.

Whether it was the right decision or not, the Ravens are 2-2, with losses that could have been avoided against both the Dolphins and the Bills. On both occasions, the Ravens failed to stop their opponent on game-winning drives in the dying moments in the fourth quarter. The Miami game was arguably worse because of the size of the lead Baltimore had heading into the fourth quarter of the game.

Baltimore needs to tidy up some things defensively. They’re currently giving up 425 yards per game, the third-highest total across the league behind only Seattle and Detroit, who just played each other in a 93-point score fest.

Lamar Jackson is playing some incredible football and is heading for another MVP-level season. Rashod Bateman has stepped into a lead role among the Ravens wide receivers, while Devin Duvernay is proving quite the explosive threat himself. The problem is the defense letting the team down, giving up way too many yards and failing to get off the field often enough. That’ll need to change against Joe Burrow and his talented group of receivers.

Burrow struggled a little in the opening game of the season. He was taking hits left and right and ended up throwing four interceptions in the loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The good news is that he’s not thrown one since, and has thrown five touchdowns in the Bengals last two outings against the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets.

Things are starting to come together for Burrow and his group, but there are still question marks around the offensive line. Cincinnati spent a lot of free agency money bolstering their offensive line in the offseason, and so far it’s not seemed to pay off. The Bengals are tied for second place in sacks allowed, with Joe Burrow being sacked four times per game on average.

Protecting him is key, and the line needs to get things right in a hurry before their franchise man gets hurt. The Ravens will be sending pressure in all kinds of forms, we know that of them by now, but given the performance of the Bengals line, they might decide to ramp that up even further on Sunday night.

It’s just not quite clicked for the Bengals yet, despite improvements. Ja’Marr Chase had 10 targets against the New York Jets, catching six passes for a grand total of 29 yards. That’s a lot of footballs to throw for 29 yards worth of offense from your star player. Chase fared far better against the Dolphins next time out, but Cincinnati will need a big day from him if they want to compete against a Jackson-driven Ravens offense.

Bengals vs Ravens Predictions – NFL Picks Week 5

The Bengals offense has struggled to find consistent momentum so far this season. A road game against the Ravens doesn’t seem like the time to piece that together, but given the performance of Baltimore's defense so far this season, I think it might be the perfect time.

The Bengals are a 3.5-point underdog going into the game, but I think they’ve got a really good shot at pulling off a win. I like the Bengals defense more than they get credit for. They’ve got some really great talent back there, and if they can contain Lamar as a runner, I like the Bengals to win the game.

The Pick: Bengals Moneyline (+140)

The Over/Under line is singing to me too. Like I mentioned, the Ravens are giving up more than 400 yards a game so far this season on defense. That’s not a good look with a potentially explosive Bengals team coming into town. My pick here relies on the Bengals having their strongest offensive performance so far this season, which I think they can do.

If the Bengals can move up and down the field scoring 28 points or more in the game, the Ravens will need points from Lamar and the offense time and time again. Not only are the Ravens capable of scoring a lot of points themselves, but in very short spaces of time too. Lamar can hit one of his guys deep out of nowhere, which he does so regularly. Two-minute drives resulting in touchdowns allow for a lot more points in the game.

The Pick: Over 48.5 Points
