Now that the college football season is in the rear-view mirror, the NCAA focus is firmly on basketball, and the 2023-24 season is really heating up amid conference play. It seems that there are great games on tap every night, and Wednesday is no exception with another exciting set of basketball matchups. Let’s dive into the Wednesday slate to find four picks that make up a great parlay.

Best College Basketball Parlays Today - Wednesday, Jan. 17, 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+1200)

No. 18 Creighton vs. No. 1 Connecticut Prediction and Pick

Both Creighton and Connecticut have held their own in Big East play so far this season. The Bluejays are known for putting up points, and they are certainly living up to the hype. Creighton has the nation’s fifth-most efficient offense this season and rans third overall in 2-point field-goal percentage. Meanwhile, No. 1 UConn has been very efficient, too, ranking third in effective-field-goal percentage and second in 2-point field-goal percentage. Fans who enjoy high-scoring games can certainly expect to see plenty of points in this matchup on Wednesday. Over their past four games, the Bluejays are averaging 74 points, while the Huskies are averaging 83.25. If the Huskies were playing this one on the road, I’d consider the under here. However, since this is a home game for Connecticut, I’ll be going with the over. UConn has been a force on its home court this season, although the Huskies have faded away at times on the road.

Leg-1 Parlay Pick: Over 145.5 (-110)
Florida State vs. Miami Prediction and Pick

The in-state rivalry between Florida State and Miami will open a new chapter at 7 p.m. tonight when the Hurricanes look to get a second straight win after suffering rare, back-to-back losses earlier this month. By contrast, the Seminoles enter this matchup in the middle of a four-game winning streak and have won seven of their last eight games. While FSU (10-6) has been hotter of late, Miami (12-4) is still the superior team heading into this matchup. The Hurricanes’ 80-71 home loss to Louisville on Jan. 10 and the results of each team’s games against common opponents this season might indicate that Florida State has a chance to win, but don’t let that fool you. Miami is still the better team. The ‘Canes are 41st in the nation when it comes to 2-point field-goal percentage, while the ‘Noles are only ranked 232nd. Miami also outranks FSU in 3-point field-goal percentage (fifth in the nation, compared to 163rd). Florida State has averaged 78.2 points per game over its last four outings, but the Seminoles have already shown that their offense has a consistency problem. To beat Miami, an opposing team’s scoring must remain consistent for two halves, which is not a guarantee with FSU. This is a game that many think will be closer than this spread predicts, but give me the Hurricanes and the points here.

Leg-2 Parlay Pick: Miami -6.5 (-115)

Central Florida vs. Texas Prediction and Pick

Prior to facing Kansas on Jan. 10, the UCF Knights had not played well against good non-conference teams. Central Florida lost to Miami by 16 points in November. The Knights also fell to Stetson by three points that month and were routed by Kansas State 77-52 on Jan. 6. However, all that changed on their home court a week ago, when the Knights upset No. 3 Kansas 65-60. They were looking for another win over a ranked opponent when they hosted No. 18 BYU last Saturday, but they couldn’t make that happen and fell 63-58. When it comes to teams that have lacked consistency this season, UCF is definitely in the conversation. However, over their past two games, the Knights have appeared to turn a corner. While that might be an overreaction to the Kansas win on my part, I do like the Knights’ chances against a Texas team that has played down to the level of its opponents at times this year. The Longhorns barely beat Louisville 81-80 earlier in the season and most recently suffered a three-point road loss against a banged-up West Virginia team on Saturday. UCF is playing great basketball, and the Knights’ backcourt duo of Jaylin Sellers and Darius Johnson have led the way. Central Florida’s big man, Ibrahima Diallo, is coming off a 19-rebound game against BYU and should fare well against a Texas team that doesn’t do a great job on the boards. Give me UCF and the points on Wednesday night, when we will find out if the Knights can answer the call again on the road in Austin.

Leg-3 Parlay Pick: UCF +8.5 (-110)
No. 25 Texas Tech vs. No. 5 Houston Prediction and Pick

When it comes to defense, the Houston Cougars have been one of the best teams in the country for quite some time. Year in and year out, Houston manages to rank high in defensive statistical categories. This season, the Cougars lead the nation in allowing just  51.4 points per game, so it’s fair to say that Houston is at it again defensively. Despite their great performances in their own end of the court, the Cougars enter Wednesday night’s home game against Texas Texas having suffered back-to-back losses to Iowa State and TCU. In both cases, the Houston offense failed to do its job in very close games. Wednesday’s opponent, Texas Tech, also prides itself on strong defensive play. The Red Raiders rank 35th in the nation defensively, allowing 64.8 points per game. Texas Tech has therefore shown that it can also shut down the competition. However, in a game where all signs point to a defensive battle, I’m going to go over the total in this one. Houston’s scorers are due for a breakout game, and the Cougars play much better offensively at home than they do on the road. Meanwhile, Texas Tech is averaging 81.8 points per game over its past five, so Houston’s defense will certainly be tested in this one.

Leg-4 Parlay Pick: Over 129.5 (-110)
