The bashing of Anthony Davis portion of the news cycle will have lasted approximately 46 hours by the time the Lakers’ Davis gets a chance to redeem himself tonight after a poor Opening Night performance.

Davis and the Lakers are going up against a shorthanded Phoenix Suns team that is expected to be without stars Devin Booker and Bradley Beal -- depriving tonight’s TNT doubleheader’s second game of some of its star power. The Lakers are favored by 6½ points.

Of course, there is never a dull day in Lakerland, and now that we know the team plans to keep LeBron James on a minutes restriction during the regular season, we know a heck of a lot more about what to expect from the Lakers than we did on Tuesday when they kicked off the season with a 119-107 loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Davis shot just 6-for-17 in that game and gave Stephen A. Smith two days’ worth of venom to spew on ESPN. Can Davis bounce back Thursday when he goes up against a lesser center in Phoenix’s Jusuf Nurkic?

James scored 21 points in 29 minutes, but is his minutes restriction going to result in the lowest scoring average of his 21-season career?

These are valid questions. So, let’s peer into the crystal ball and figure out how we can use this information to put together a winning same-game parlay card.

Suns vs. Lakers Player Prop Bets Today, Thursday Oct 26th

Taurean Prince - Player Points

Taurean Prince was the Lakers’ second-best offensive weapon in the opener against the Nuggets, going 4-for-6 on 3-pointers and scoring 18 points. We liked what we saw from the left-handed corner-3 specialist.

These are very achievable numbers for a guy who is going to be a bigger part of the Lakers’ offense than many had imagined in the preseason. At that time, Taurean Prince was merely expected to be a role player off the bench behind Jarred Vanderbilt, who is injured and will not play.

Prince made at least three 3-pointers in two of his first three games of the season last year when he was with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he has a career history of running hot and cold. He will get enough attempts, so it is merely a matter of whether he can make three of them. The points line is especially enticing for a guy who should play around 32 to 35 minutes.

The Pick: Taurean Prince to score 15 or more points and made at least three 3-pointers.

D'Angelo Russell - Player Assists

Before he pulled his disappearing act in the playoffs last spring, the Lakers’ D’Angelo Russell had a very decent season for the team that originally drafted him before he spent time in Brooklyn and Minnesota. He reached double figures in assists once in the playoffs and eight times during the regular season, and we think Anthony Davis will be stoked enough tonight to turn at least five of Russell’s passes into alley-oop layups and dunks, which gets Russell halfway to 10 assists.

In sports gambling, sometimes you have to add an unlikely pick to your parlay to make it go “boom” if it hits, and this is one of those instances. The possibility of Russell getting to 10 assists will keep this one interesting through the fourth quarter, so long as the game stays competitive.

The Pick: D’Angelo Russell to record at least 10 assists (+1000).

Kevin Durant - Double Double

Kevin Durant had 18 points and 11 rebounds in just 29 minutes in the Suns’ opener, and we would imagine that new coach Frank Vogel -- returning to Los Angeles as an opposing coach for the first time -- will be incentivized to ride Durant a bit harder, especially with Bradley Beal and Devin Booker out.

Durant is usually an automatic double-double, and we have added that probability to out parlay card to give it a final boost.

The Pick: Kevin Durant to record a double-double (+180).

Those four wagers add up to a +14000 flyer of a parlay, mostly because of D’Angelo Russell’s assist total. He does it 10 percent of the time, so this one is a bit of a leap of faith impacted by the absence of Bradley Beal and Devin Booker, who are both good defenders. Russell will not have to deal with either of them. Good luck!
