The rain has finally stopped falling in Los Angeles, the current home of LeBron James … the guy who tweeted an hourglass emoji prior to the NBA trade deadline, only to see his team fail to make any moves.

As a result, we could be in for another Summer of LeBron if he declines to pick up his player option, which would make him a free agent. Much will depend on how the Lakers fare in the postseason, and James could end up playing elsewhere next season if this year ends in failure.

James’ oldest son is attending Southern Cal and could decide to declare for the NBA draft, and LeBron has said in the past that it is his dream to play alongside one or both of his sons in the NBA. That means the key to getting James as a free agent could be drafting his son this June.

But before we get that far ahead of ourselves, there is still plenty of regular-season basketball to be played, and the NBA will be taking center stage now that the Kansas City Chiefs have won another Super Bowl. Many casual sports fans do not start paying attention to the NBA until the football season is finished, and that is where we are now. Next weekend’s All-Star game in Indianapolis may end up raising more questions than answers as James plays for the Western Conference and likely offers up some non-tweeted clues about what his future may hold.

For now, he gets to go up against the NBA’s worst team tonight as the Detroit Pistons play in Los Angeles, with the Lakers favored by 10.5 points. Where is there money to be made?

NBA Player Props for Tuesday, February 13, 2024

Jalen Duren (DET) Player Stats - Rebounds

It would not be a shocker if James and/or Davis sat this one out given the caliber of the competition, which means it behooves us to go with a Pistons player who has been stuffing the stat sheet on this trip. Jalen Duren is coming off a 10-point, 18-rebound double-double against the Clippers, and he had 22 boards in the previous game against Portland. The line of +800 for Duren to get at least 18 rebounds is one of the better prices we have seen all season.

The Pick: Jalen Duren to grab at least 18 rebounds (+800)

Tyler Herro (MIA) Player Stats - Points

With Butler absent, Miami’s offense will run through Tyler Herro, who has scored 24 in each of the last two games with Butler and Rozier both playing. Tonight, he is going to have to ice his shooting elbow after the game because Miami has nobody aside from Bam Adebayo who can score. Herro has had two 30-point games this season and should make it three tonight simply because of the volume of shots he will be attempting.

The Pick: Tyler Herro to score at least 30 points (+255)

De'Aaron Fox (SAC) Player Stats - Points

Fox won the NBA’s clutch player award last season for a good reason, because he constantly came through for a team that was overlooked by everyone preseason and then went out and led the NBA in scoring. He has had his way against the defense of Devin Booker three times this season, and the national TV showcase is something the Kings seldom get. We like Fox to rise to the occasion.

The Pick: De’Aaron Fox to score at least 35 points (+700)

Anthony Edwards (MIN) - Player Specials: Double Double

Edwards had eight assists and seven rebounds to go along with his 23 points against the Clippers, and although the +3000 line on a triple-double is enticing, he has not had one yet this season, and his minutes will not be high if the Wolves take control early. That being said, he is highly capable of reaching double figures in assists or rebounds, and the +425 line on a double-double is generous.

The Pick: Anthony Edwards to have a double-double (+600)
