We learned so much about the NBA on Wednesday, with some of it being good and some of it horrible. Some of it we can put to use in trying to make a profit out of the changes that are happening league-wide as the trade deadline nears, the All-Star break draws closer and the field of legitimate contenders shrinks.

For example, the Toronto Raptors are no longer competing for a championship after dealing Pascal Siakam to Indiana yesterday and OG Anunoby to the Knicks earlier this month. They still have games to play with newcomers who want to earn mega-contracts. Those incentivized players should be watched closely in sports wagering markets.

That is where we shall begin as we look at tonight’s five-game NBA slate that includes a TNT doubleheader of Chicago at Toronto and Memphis at Minnesota.

NBA Player Prop Bets to consider for Thursday games 1/18/24

Immanuel Quickley to Double Double

Best Bulls vs. Raptors Player Prop Bet Today

Quickley posted a line of 17 points, nine assists and eight rebounds last night and has clearly supplanted Dennis Schroder as the main point guard. He goes up against a tough defender tonight in Alex Caruso, but Quickley is now flirting with triple-double territory and might just get there if Schroder’s role is further reduced. It is worth a gamble, but it is not on the board today, so we go with …

The Pick: Immanuel Quickley to double-double (+600)

Vince Williams Jr. to score at least 18 points

Best Grizzlies vs Timberwolves Player Prop Bet Today

We do not expect many of Minnesota’s regulars to log that many minutes because this should be a blowout, but Memphis will have no choice but to use Williams as much as possible. He scored 24 last time out and 17 the previous game, and we like him to score at least 18 because somebody needs to shoot the ball.

The Pick: Vince Williams Jr. to score at least 18 points (+350)

Josh Giddey to have a Double-Double

Best Thunder vs. Jazz Player Prop Bet

Before Shai Gilgeous-Alexander asserted himself as the best player on the Thunder, many folks expected that person to be Australian third-year player Josh Giddey, whose playmaking skills are not being utilized as much as they were in the past because SGA is so ball-dominant. In the last Thunder-Jazz game, Giddey had 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in just 24 minutes, showing what a matchup nightmare he is for the Jazz. He does not have a triple-double line on the board, but we like him at +625 to have a double-double.

The Pick: Josh Giddey to have a double-double (+625)

Kevin Huerter to score at least 15 points

Best Pacers vs. Kings Player Prop Bet

DeAaron Fox has been scoring at a blistering pace for the Kings, and Domantas Sabonis has been a triple-double machine. As a result their player prop lines are not worth taking a chance on. Fox will be defended by T.J. McConnell, aka the “Pacers Pest,” which could limit his output. Sabonis is playing an alumni game against the team that traded him, but his double-double line is -2000 and his triple-double line is +115. No thanks. Instead, we go with a guy who is overdue to knock down a bunch of 3s, much like Trent did for Toronto last night.

The Pick: Kevin Huerter to score at least 15 points (+275)
