Suns vs. Nets Predictions and Best Bets

We shall see what kind of a reception Kevin Durant receives in his return to Brooklyn tonight for a nationally televised game between the Phoenix Suns and the Nets.

This is a game being broadcast by ABC with an 8:30 p.m. start time, which you never saw in previous seasons when Wednesday nights were reserved for ESPN doubleheaders. ABC is an arm of the Disney Corporation, and this was a comeback night that Disney executives circled last summer when the schedule was being made.

Durant was part of a superteam that never did anything super in Brooklyn when Kyrie Irving and James Harden were around, and all of those players have been dispatched elsewhere since. The Nets have had their ups and downs but are coming off a 147-point offensive outburst against Utah on Monday night. An under-reported theme of this game is that it also is a chance for Mikal Bridges to make some noise against the team that dealt him to Brooklyn for Durant.

Bridges showed himself to be a very good offensive player once he was sent to the Nets, and he is coming off a 33-point offensive outburst against the Jazz in which he tied his season-high with 14 3-point attempts.

Was that just a warm-up for what we will see tonight from Bridges? Could he try to steal the show from KD?

Durant is averaging 28.2 points per game for the Suns while shooting 53.1 percent from the field. He scored 27 against Brooklyn when the Nets visited Phoenix in December and defeated the Suns 116-112 as the Nets moved to 13-10 on the season. Since then they have gone 6-17 and have fallen to 11th place in the East.

The Suns are favored by 3.5, with the over/under down a point since early this morning and at 233.5. The Suns have gone under in six of their last eight, while Brooklyn has gone under in six of nine, but went over by 25 Monday night against Utah.

Best NBA Same Game Parlay Picks Today for Suns vs Nets: 3-Legs Parlay Picks (+17000)

Kevin Durant triple-double

Durant had eight rebounds and seven assists Monday night at Miami, and it has been 35 days since he had his one and only triple-double of the season against Houston. Make no mistake: This is a guy who adores the spotlight, and he loves doing special things when there is a national spotlight on him. He is still adjusting to playing with two great offensive players (Bradley Beal and Devin Booker) alongside him, and that will be a season-long process. Tonight, he is more interested in putting on a show for the national TV audience than he is in settling some sort of grudge with Brooklyn. He still has good relationships with Nets executives, and what fuels him is not revenge but standing out in the spotlight. He had one triple-double last season, four the previous season and had a playoff triple-double against Milwaukee in 2021, so he has it in him. In building this parlay, we are trusting that he will be eager to stand out as much as he has all season

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Devin Durant to have a triple-double +2500

Devin Booker double-double

Booker had a nearly identical line to Durant last time out against Miami. Both of them had eight rebounds and seven assists while playing heavy minutes. There have been 15 instances of teammates recording triple-doubles in the same game, last happening when Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray did it last spring in the NBA Finals. There is a temptation to make that pick here because Booker is +2500 on the triple-double prop line, but the guy has not had one all season … but he has had 10 double-doubles in 38 games, meaning he gets one more than 25 percent of the time. We like that conversion rate, and we never want to get ourselves into a situation when too much greed destroys what would have been a fantastic Same Game Parlay.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Devin Booker to have a double-double (+340)

Mikal Bridges to make at least four 3-pointers

As noted above, he jacked up 14 of them last time out against Utah, and he will be super stoked to play against his former team and show his stuff in a rare national TV appearance for the Nets. Four games ago he made seven 3s against the Knicks, and he has had four or more 3s in four of the past six games. He went 3-for-9 on 3s when these teams met in Phoenix earlier this season.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: Mikal Bridges to make at least four 3-pointers (+175)

Put those three props together, and it produces a stunning Same Game Parlay line of +17000, which means a $10 wager would return $1,710. For a three-leg parlay involving three terrific offensive players, that ain’t a bad bet. Good luck!
