After both making it out of their first-round matchups quite easily with a pair of 4-1 series wins, the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets will take the floor Saturday for game one of their best of seven series. With the winner advancing to the Conference finals, the stakes are high as every game, every play, and every shot will matter. The regular season didn’t really highlight much between these teams as the Suns and Nuggets looked quite different in each of their regular season matchups due to injuries or trades. They split the season series two games a piece.

Suns vs Nuggets Injury Report

Outside of Collin Gillespie who didn’t play a game for the Denver Nuggets this season, there are no players listed on the injury report for either team.

Suns vs Nuggets Prediction - NBA Playoffs Game 1

While the regular season doesn’t give us any indication of how this series will go as both teams looked differently in each of their regular season matchups this year, we can still get a really good idea on how these two teams played during the first round. While both teams did win their series 4-1, the Suns still scare me a bit as there are some question marks. Outside of their core four with Deandre Ayton, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Chris Paul there are some real question marks. For starters, the Suns bench and their role players are concerning as they are essentially nonexistent. While Torrey Craig and Josh Okogie had a decent series against the Los Angeles Clippers it’s not sustainable to expect that same level of production going forward for the remainder of the playoffs. Rim protection will be key in this series against Denver and if Deandre Ayton gets in any sort of foul trouble that rim protection goes right down the drain as Bismack Biyombo isn’t it. With Nikola Jokic playing at an MVP level all season and Jamal Murray showing that he’s fully healthy for this playoff run as he averaged 27.2 points including a 40 point game in round one, this Nuggets team is very scary. While everyone is on the Suns super-team to win this series and the Finals, I think their run stops here. Nuggets at +110 to win the series is a good plus money bet to grab.

NBA Western Conference Semifinals Best Bets - Same Game Parlay Picks Today for Suns vs Nuggets Game 1: 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+850)

Game Total Points

We’re going to start this same-game-parlay off with an alternate game total of over 219.5 total points for game one. This total hit four out of five games in both the Suns and Nuggets first round series and I see this total hitting in game one as both teams have multiple lethal scoring options. The total exceeded 219.5 three out of the four games during the regular season.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Over 219.5 (-195)

Jamal Murray Player Stats

Nuggets guard Jamal Murray has been on a tear so far averaging 27.2 points during the first round against the Minnesota Timberwolves. While Nikola Jokic is always the focal point, he does look to dish a lot especially when teams look to double him or send help. In these instances, Murray has really stepped up knocking down open shots and capitalizing on his opportunities. And when Jokic goes to the bench, head coach Mike Malone usually leaves Murray out there to lead the way for the Nuggets scoring. But this is where it gets good: while Murray had his way with Mike Conley and the Wolves, he’ll draw a much easier defender in this series as 37 year-old Chris Paul (who’s already shown signs of slowing down and struggling defensively several times this year). With Paul guarding Murray, we could certainly see another 40 point performance out of him, but 30 in game one at home seems very reasonable.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Jamal Murray 30+ Points (+400)

Kevin Durant Player Stats

The Phoenix Suns do not have a bench and they cannot continue to rely on their role players to make key shots for them. It’s just not sustainable. If the Suns want to advance to the Western Conference Finals, it’ll have to be on the backs of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. So for our next pick we’re going with Durant to get at least 25 points. This is a number that Durant hit in all five games against the Clippers in round one and should exceed in every game in this series as they’ll really need him against this Nuggets team.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: Kevin Durant 25+ Points (-215)
Devin Booker Player Stats

Devin Booker has been on record multiple times on how much easier the game has been with Durant as his teammate. Durant just being out there with him opens up more lanes and easier shots for the 3-time All-Star. As a result, Booker had a phenomenal first round series where he averaged 37.2 points including a 47 and a 45 point game. Like Durant, Booker exceeded 25 points in each of their five first round games. Look for Booker’s scoring to continue in round two against the Nuggets as they’ll need it if they want to remain competitive in this series.

Leg-4 SGP Pick: Devin Booker 25+ Points (-390)
