The Cleveland Cavaliers return home for Game 5 of their first-round playoff series against the New York Knicks hoping to remain alive in the 2023 postseason.

The Cavs, who lost Game 1 at home, went on to drop both road games at Madison Square Garden in New York. As a result, they suddenly find themselves staring elimination in the face despite an extremely promising regular season.

The Knicks can smell blood in the water, and Jalen Brunson and Co. will look to put the series on ice at the first opportunity Wednesday so they can quickly turn their attention to the Eastern Conference semifinals. Let’s dig into some NBA same-game parlay predictions for this all-important Game 5 in Cleveland.

Knicks vs Cavaliers Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under – NBA Playoffs Betting Lines 4/26

Moneyline: Knicks (+170), Cavaliers (-105)
Spread: Knicks +5.5 (-120) , Cavaliers -5.5 (-105)
Total: Over/Under 202.5 points

Knicks vs Cavaliers Injury Report

The Knicks were shorthanded in Game 4, because both center Jericho Sims and guard Quentin Grimes were ruled out for the night. Sims lost out on minutes to Isaiah Hartenstein as the season unfolded, but Grimes had started Game 3 before getting hurt. Josh Hart stepped into Grimes’ role in the starting rotation for Game 4 and played 40 minutes.

Knicks vs Cavaliers Prediction

The Cavs had to be disappointed with their Game 1 loss. They knew that would hurt them, and it shouldn’t have happened, given their record at home this season. The Knicks came prepared and caught the Cavs off guard. Cleveland is now left fighting for survival after a couple of losses on the road.

The Cavs have shot poorly in the series and were blown out by 20 points in Game 3. Cleveland managed just 79 points in that game during which Darius Garland shot a woeful 4-for-21 and scored only 10 points. That just won’t get it done in the postseason.

Garland improved and put up 23 points in Game 4, but Donovan Mitchell went 5-for-18 and scored just 11 points in that game, which saw Mitchell go 0-for-4 from 3-point range. It marked his lowest points total since the All-Star Break, and it came at the worst possible time.

That said, the Cavs did step up as a team with contributions coming from across the starting five as they tried to rally against the Knicks on the road. Cleveland scored 99 points in Game 3 despite Mitchell’s poor performance on the offensive end. If the Cavs can piece things back together at home, there is the potential for a Game 6 opportunity to tie the series.

New York has executed well in all four games. With Grimes ruled out, the Knicks played almost an eight-man rotation in Game 4 but still handled their business and kept the Cavs at bay. That put them within one win of claiming the series and moving on in the playoffs.

New York’s Jalen Brunson and R.J. Barrett led the charge in Game 4 by combining for 55 points. Brunson went 5-for-9 from 3-point range, and Barrett shot 9-for-18 on the night while picking up 13 free-throw attempts.

Cleveland needs a strong team performance with everybody playing well to keep its hopes alive, and we haven’t seen that yet. Garland and Mitchell have taken turns going cold when it matters the most, and that can’t happen in Game 5.

Best NBA Same-Game Parlay Picks Today for Knicks vs Cavaliers - NBA Playoffs Game 5: 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+850)

Jalen Brunson Points Total

Jalen Brunson was in fine form in Game 4, taking over the game and sinking five 3-pointers to help the Knicks pull away from Cleveland and take a 3-1 series lead. While R.J. Barrett and Julius Randle have proven harder to predict, Brunson is the consistent factor in the Knicks’ offense.

The Knicks have their work cut out for them in this return to Cleveland. Oddsmakers have the Cavs as a 5.5-point favorite despite their trailing in the series. One of Cleveland’s main keys to winning -- and keeping the series alive – will be shutting down Brunson. That said, the Knicks guard has proven to be a clutch performer time and time again, and him hitting 25 points in Game 5 is my opening pick for these NBA picks and parlays.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Jalen Brunson 25+ Points (+110)

Caris LeVert 3-Pointers Made

Cavs guard Caris LeVert has hit nine 3-pointers over the last three games after opening the series with none in Game 1. He has proven to be perhaps the most reliable 3-point shooting option for the Cavs, which is a little concerning since Donovan Mitchell probably needs to be that guy for Cleveland to advance.

That said, LeVert can knock down a three when called upon and has attempted 26 of them in the last three games. So, I’m going to pick him in my NBA same-game picks and parlays today to clear 2+ for 3-pointers.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Caris LeVert 2+ Three Pointers (-215)

Spread Bet

The Cavs have been a fun team to watch this season and deserved their home-court advantage for the opening round of the playoffs. That said, their Game 1 loss in this series does give me some pause.

Despite what happened in Game 1, the Cavs rallied in the second home game and knocked off the Knicks by a 17-point margin. As a result, I feel better about the 5.5 point spread for this Game 5.

The Cavs were in the running for most of Game 4 despite Mitchell’s dreadful shooting performance. If he turns it back on in the fifth matchup, I’m backing the Cavs to cover the spread for the second time in a row at home and set up a must-watch Game 6 at Madison Square Garden.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: Cleveland Cavaliers -5.5 (-105)

Darius Garland Points Total

Cleveland’s Darius Garland has been hot and cold in this series, to say the least, but he did have an excellent performance at home in Game 2, when he scored 32 points after not making a major impact in the series opener.

When Donovan Mitchell struggled in Game 4, Garland filled in for him. Cavs fans can hope these two both have good scoring nights to keep their team alive in the series.

Garland seems to have recognized that stepping up for Cleveland means driving at the Knicks, taking more shots, and playing more aggressively. His total shots-attempted stats have increased since that quiet Game 1.

I’m wrapping up this NBA same-game parlay with Garland picking up 20+ at home.

Leg-4 SGP Pick: Darius Garland 20+ Points (-160)
